Searching for DiFiore
Searching for DiFiore
Hello,
I am brand new to this site and will be thankful for any help that can be provided. I belong to ancestry.com but that site has left me with some gaps.
I am looking for information on my wifes ancestry line. Starting with:
The father of Vincenzi DiFiore (born about 1891) He lived in Ohio and San Francisco in the 1920's and 1930's. He was married to Maria E Busalacchi (1895-1952) in St. Louis, Missouri.
I have nothing on Vincenzi's mother and father. After Mary died in 1952 he returned to Italy.
Can anyone give me a lead on who his parents were? Thanks so much.

Re: Searching for DiFiore
In Italy, most BMD records are found inthe place of origin be it City, town or even village. Duplicate records exist at the provincial level but knowedge of the place of origin is vital. Once we have the name it it is an easy process to obtainthe information you require. =Peter=

Re: Searching for DiFiore
So it seems I have a bit of research to find the exact place of birth. I'm hoping to find their marriage license from St. Louis that might have more info on it.

Hello!
If this is your 1920 census from ancestry. com, this may also be Vincenzo’s WWI Draft Registration Card.
You may not have made the connection on ancestry. com - it’s filed under Vincenzo Dipore.
If you check his signature it’s Vincenzo DiFiore.
1917 WWI Draft Registration Card
If you think this is the correct person, you have a birth date and location for your search in Italian records:
11 Dec 1890
Villagrazia, Palermo, province of Palermo, Sicily
Also, his census records indicated he arrived about 1908?
Have you found his ship manifest?
If you think these are correct, we can help you with your next steps.

Re: Searching for DiFiore
Could they have been married in Youngstown, Ohio. Missouri death certificate shows a child (Frances DiFiore) 6 years old lost to Pneumonia on 3/24/1921 (She was born in Youngstown)
The certificate shows the father as Vincent DiFiore and the mother as Mary Busala... (end of name hard to read)

Re: Searching for DiFiore
Villagrazia for your information is part of Palermo as it is a hamlet on the road to Palermo as it were but part of Palermo. If this is he then go to www.nonsolocap.it and put in Villagrazia on the heading and click Cerca when the next page comes up click on "STRADE DI PALERMO " ( on the far right side) ,then type in Palermo and the 4"road to palermo" addresses will come up that may relate to your guy. Let us know and we can take you from there. =Peter=

Re: Searching for DiFiore
I think Villagrazia could be Villagrazia di Carini.
Re: Searching for DiFiore
Eyetalgal, good observation.
I'm coming up with two Villagrazia's both of which are a hamlet
Villagrazia, comune of Carini, province of Palermo
and
Villagrazia, comune of Palermo, province of Palermo
If it's a frazione of Carini, James Bianco has done extensive record extraction for the town.

Re: Searching for DiFiore
The draft is is a big BINGO. Vincent was a barber and lived in Ohio before moving to St. Louis then San Francisco. The Census is also him. His wife Mary Busalacchi - her father is Agostino and mother Mary Bova. This draft card is very important. thanks for the big find.vj wrote:Hello!

Re: Searching for DiFiore
If the parentage for Mary is Correct (Agostino & Mary Bova) then it looks like she had a brother that lived in Texas.
Surname spelled differntly:
Anthony Busalaki born 1/4/1884 in St. Charles Mo. died 3/31/1947 in San Antonio. Son of August Busalaki (Italy) & Mary Bova (Italy)
