Are you looking for an Italian surname? Do you need more information about your family heritage?
This is the right place to start your genealogy search.
Hi, I am looking for Alfonzo Mauro who married Maria Massaro or Mascaro. They are from Luzzano Italy. They were born around 1862.Their children were
Joseph Paul Mauro ( B.1879 ) who married Pasqualina Pedula(B.1885).
Anthony, I do not know who he married.
Frank Mauro (B.1885) Married Angela Mary Palma (also from Italy)
Liberato (B. 1887)was the only son who stayed in Italy.
Joseph and Pasqualina's census say Benevento Italy? Joseph's second marriage after Pasqualina passed away says Joseph came from Luzzano.
Looking for any info on any of the above people, any info would be great.
I have all info on Joseph,Pasqualina,Frank,Angela for United States only. I do not have anything on Immigration and their lives in Italy (Births,Marriages etc).
If you go to http://www.angelfire.com/ok3/pearlsofwi ... tters.html for a certificato di famiglia based upon Alfonso Mauro showing the date and place of birth of each family member. Send form letter to Ufficio Anagrafe for the certificate.
Estratto di nascita (birth long forms) for each of the members of the family lcanbe requested from the Luzzano Uffico di Stato Civile.
Go to www.nonsolocap.it and put in Luzzano (Prov. Benevento) and then click on the Luzzano name for the website which comes up and scroll down to municipio for the addresses needed for above. =Peter=
In which US state did they live? What is the earliest census you have placed them on? Did the census state year of immigration? Did they naturalize, and if so, year of naturalization?

Hi Wldspirit, sorry I didnt get an email stating a reply was made.
I now have Joseph Mauro and Frank Mauro's immigration and Naturalizations.
Earlist census is 1920 in Massachusetts for both Mauros.
Joseph Mauro supposedly lived in Scenectady,New York. He had 1 or 2 daughters born there and I can't even find them being born there. I have written to all counties and everyone says No births, No census.
Luzzano is a comune (town) in the Province of Benevento, Campania, Italy. So your information is not contradictory.
The 1920 census stated that Alphonse was born in New York, Mary born in New Jersey, and the rest of the children in Massachusetts. You would know the accuracy of it, but that is how it is listed.
It is possible that they are in New Jersey in 1910.
You are correct on the Location Luzzano,Benevento,Campania,Italy.
If they are in New Jersey - then the census should be after March 1910 because thats when Mary was born, according to her marriage certificate and her son.
Looking at Alphonses Mass death index it says he was born in Mass
Hello!
Since the 1930 census also indicates that one of the children was born in New Jersey (Alphonse)
Perhaps another clue to finding the 1910 census may be where Joseph was headed from his ship manifest?
Thanks!

Get a copy of his Declaration of Intent and Petition for Naturalization. These were filed before one could become a citizen. These have a lot more information on them then does the actual citizenship papers. It should help. Both of these would have been filed within 7 years of the date of citizenship.
If it occurred in Mass., you can e-mail the people at Waltham at the NARA...google for it. If you have the number of the naturalization ceritificate, it should help them locate the other documents. You can probably do this all by e-mail. Good luck
As a nation state, Italy has emerged only in 1871. Until then the country was politically divided into a large number of independant cities, provinces and islands. The currently available evidences point out to a dominant Etruscan, Greek and Roman cultural influence on today's Italians. The earlies...
