Giuseppe Lostracco

Post by tonij16102 »

I am needing help once again for a great-great-grandfather named Giuseppe Lostracco. I have tried to find him on Ellis Island and can't because I notice now that on his Declaration Of Intention it says he came to America on or about August 14, 1903 through the Port Of New York. Also he was a Medic in the Boer War aka African Italian War I have his Army Journal and he came over from Bugnara, Italy. Where would I write for is Army papers if they kept them back then? Thanks,
Toni

there is no Giuseppe inthe ellisisland.org website nor the Castlegarden website ...Have you checked for an alternative first name? do you have his birthdate? If you do then you can go thru ellisisland by year of birth.

You can obtain military records from the Archivio di Stato di L'Aquila, Piazza Della repubblica 9, 67100 L'Aquila, Abruzzo by sending a form letter in Italian to the above address.

The website for the form letter is www.angelfire.com/ok3/pearlsofwisdom/saviello2.html =Peter=

Hi Peter,
That's the problem I don't know of any other name for him other this way Lo Stracco I did find his brother Felice but not him. Is Castle Gardens the site for the Port Of New York? Thanks Peter

www.castlegarden.org is for port of NY from 1880 to the early 1900s as well as ellisisland.org. Why not write away for the military records and see if there was another first name besides Giuseppe? Lostracco or Lo Stracco is not important. =Peter=

Check out this manifest and see if it is a possibility. Perhaps the cc turned into an n somehow. :D

Hi Toni!
No luck finding Filomena Silvestri or her daughters' manifest.
Only located one census (1920).
She was born abt 1875?
Neither Marrietta or Anna were on the census, when were they born?

Is this the correct census?
possible 1920 census

Thanks! Valarie

Hello again Valarie
Yes this is the correct census and I se they have my great-aunt Annie listed as Andy and my grandmother Marrietta isn't on this because she was already married to my grandfather Antonio Dantonio in 1917. But Andy is actually wrong it should have been Annie. I'm not sure of her Filomenia's birth date I never had one.

Thank-you once again Valarie

Hello suanj :D !

I'm so glad you found that census.
On their daughter Marietta D'Antonio's 1930 census she indicates she didn't immigrate (with her mother?) until 1910...
I'll find it and post it here.
