GIOVANNI INFANTINO genealogy information

Post by kkin »

I am new to the site and to genealogy. I have been told this site has incredibly helpful people. I need all the help I can get.

The information I have is from a family member. It needs to be verified.

I am looking for records or information on my great grandfather GIOVANNI INFANTINO.

GIOVANNI was born on July 10, 1856 in Abruzzi, Italy. (This needs to be verified. I am not certain Abruzzi is a town).

GIOVANNI died December 6, 1909. I do not know where.

GIOVANNI married TERESA CERUZZI.

TERESA was born April 3, 1867. I do not know where TERESA was born. I do not know when or where they were married. Her birth and their marriage may have both been in Italy.

TERESA died June 7, 1888 in Brooklyn, New York, USA.

GIOVANNI and TERESA had a son LOUIS (MARIO) INFANTINO born July 19, 1887, in Brooklyn, New York, USA.

I want to verify GIOVANNI's birthplace in Italy and his wife's information. I would like to know about his immigation to the USA.

I would like to view any microfische that is available.

Thank you.

Hello
Welcome to the forum!
We'll see what we can do to help.
Finding your family in US census records may provide clues that will lead to more substantial records.
If we can find where your g-grandfather was living in 1909 you may be able to order his death certificate.
Depending on what the informant knew, it may provide his place of birth and parent's names.
Does this sound OK?

Hi Kkin and Val :D

in 1910 Giovanni's son was living in Cambridge MA:

1910 United States Federal Census
about Louis M Infantino
Name: Louis M Infantino
Age in 1910: 23
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1887
Birthplace: New York
Relation to Head of House: Head
Father's Birth Place: Italy
Mother's Birth Place: Italy
Spouse's Name: Ebba
Home in 1910: Cambridge Ward 8, Middlesex, Massachusetts
Marital Status: Married
Race: White
Gender: Male
Neighbors: View others on page
Household Members: Name Age
Louis M Infantino 23
Ebba Infantino 21

They stated they were married since two years....Do you know if they got married in Cambridge?
If it's so, maybe Louis's father was with them in 1909....

Thank you all so very much for your rapid response to my inquiry. I had no idea you would be so fast. I am fascinated by the info you have posted.

I see by the marriage record that I have spelled Theresa's names wrong.

It is also interesting to see Giovanni and Luigi travelled together.

The best part is an emotional understanding that these are not just names on a page, but people who actually lived. I think I have the "bug" to find out more.

I am wondering if anyone can tell from any of the records where in Italy any of my relatives came from? GIOVANNI, THERESA or LUIGI?

I think I may have found Luigi Infantino age 20, coming back to to USA from
BOSCOMARANGO, ITALY.

November 12, 1907.

could someone please look at the Ellis Island page , Line 23 and verify the location he came from In Italy.
The trip was paid for by his Uncle Pietro Ci.ruzzi ( cannot read it)

Where is Boscomarango, Italy? I canot locate it.

Thanks

The town name is Bosco Marengo, Alessandria Province. He was born in New York. The ticket was paid by his uncle Pietro Ciruzzi and he is joining his uncle Luigi Ciruzzi.

Congratulation Trevisan!! That's him!
He was an U.S. Born... there is another interesting clue on the arrival manifest... it seems he was leaving in Italy another uncle, Pietro Ciruzzi in Guardia Perticara, which is a Comune in Potenza Province - Basilicata region

Its 1:00 a.m. PST and I am still working on it. I have been looking up the NY families on Ancestry. I am so happy for my friend Kathy, because she wanted so much to learn about her Italian ancestors and where in Italy they came from.
Thanks a million for helping me out!

I need a little help on a 1930 census record on frances Ciruzzi. The record lists house hold members of Francis Ciruzzi age 53, Frances Guerrieri (daughter) age 25 , Vincent Guerrieri (Son) age 21 and Louis Ciruzzi (brother) age 48

How do these family members fit together. Vincent Guerrieri is the Son of Who? and so on.

maybe this 1920 census could help you finding the relationship between those persons:

1920 United States Federal Census

Age: 38 years
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1882
Birthplace: Italy
Relation to Head of House: Brother-in-law
Father's Birth Place: Italy
Mother's Birth Place: Italy
Marital Status: Single
Race: White
Sex: Male
Year of Immigration: 1890
Able to read: Yes
Able to Write: Yes
Image: 276
Neighbors: View others on page
Household Members: Name Age
Joseph Pica 41 head
Frances J Pica 41 wife
Frances L Guerrieri 22 niece

Louis Ciruzzi 38 brother in law

Laura

I forgot to tell you that in the 1930 census Frances (Pica) is divorced, that's why her lastname is Ciruzzi :!:
