Alessandro Calenda

Post by dannygaetano »

My grandfather was born in Sant Angelo D' Alife in Caserta. His name was Alessandro Calenda I have been to the town and attempted to obtain his birth certificate without luck. I believe he was born around 1894 but the only record that they showed me of an Alessandro Calenda was from around 1876. Has anyone attemted to obtain information from the town hall in Sant Angelo D' Alife. It is a very small village. I previously attempted to obtain a birth certificate from a website without luck . Any information would be helpful. His other brothers and sisters settled mainly in Providence R.I and New York City areas.

What US documentation do you have that supports his year and place of birth?

Thank You,
This is in fact my grandfather, Alessandro Calenda. I have his documentation from his departure on the Prinzess Irene in 1909 to the United States. My father is Geatano and the rest are my uncles and aunts and the information provided is from a trip they took back to Italy in 1931. My father also told me about Alessandro's trip to Italy in 1926.
Perhaps the Calenda's left Cerreto Sannita to go to Sant Angelo d'Alife. Which is curious. I remember talking to family who were younger than Alessandro and said they were from snd born in Sant Angelo d Alife. When I was in Sant Angelo d' Alife I did find information on those cousins in the town hall.
Any help or information on where I can go from here to obtain Alessandro Calenda's birth certificate and any other information on the Calenda side of my family would be greatly appreciated.
My grandmother, Giovanna(Giovanina) Vittorioso was from Sessa Arunca and I have her birth certificate from a visit to Sessa Arunca to see family still there but I do not have any information on her departure from Italy which I believe was around 1916 and arrived in Providence R.I. from Naples.
Thank You

Thank you,
I will write to the town of Cerreto Sannita to try to obtain the birth act certificate for Alessandro Calenda.

Any idea or information on how I can track down the emmigration information for Giovanina Vittorioso. What ship she was on? I know she left Naples around 1916 and landed in Providence, Rhode Island
