Need help w/ Signoretti birth records Citta di Castella

Post by signoretti »

Hello I am new to the forum and am looking for information about my great grandfather born Egidio Signoretti on Sept 1, 1889 in Citta di Castella. I have found his Ellis Island passenger record and this is how I know his birth town. His fathers name is Giuseppe Signoretti and that was listed on the ship's manifest as the closest relative living in Italy. I would really like to get Egidio's birthrecord and find more information and names of his parents and so on... Please help!! Where do I start? Thanks!!!

You may write to:

Comune di Città di Castello
Ufficio di stato civile
Piazza Gabriotti 1
06012 Città di Castello (PG)
Italy

and ask for an "Estratto di nascita per copia integrale". Sample Italian letters are available at http://www.angelfire.com/ok3/pearlsofwi ... tters.html

Thanks so much!!! I am going to get this done this week. I am so excited!! I was also wanting to find information on my great grandmothers family. I am told they were from Rome. Her name was Reta Ravetta and she married Ercole Motta making her Reta Motta. I unfortunatly can not find any ship records through ellis island of them arriving in the US so I am not sure which way they entered. Reta did have another daughter that died at the age of 13 and is burried in Italy (not sure where) after that they immigrated to the US in 1914. Again I am not sure where to start? Could you please lead me in the right direction :) Thanks so much!!!

Hi,
on the Ellisisland.org website I found this 1914 arrival for Rita Ravetta travelling with her daughters Celeste, Velia, Lina, they were joining their son/brother Ferruccio in Chicago (she was Widow). It was their first arrival, Rita stated she was born in Novara (Piemonte Region, in the north of Italy) while her daughters were born in Rome.
She stated also she was leaving in Italy her aunt Elena Clerici:

I can also advise you to search for records of your ancestors in this (free) site:

http://search.labs.familysearch.org/rec ... tml#p=home

you have to register but the search is free. You will find some records interesting for your search, for example the marriage licenses for Velia Motta (who married Adelco Roberti) and for Lena Motta and Signoretti Egidio

Hello ~ Thanks for all the wonderful information and help you have given me. I am at another bump and really need some assistance. On the ship manifest for Egidio Signoretti he is coming to stay with his Uncle and I am having trouble figuring out the name. I believe it says Terrino Felice, Eric . My grandmother says she remember her father Egidio's cousins coming around and there names were Ernesto and Guido. Guido was married to Anna. They were not Signorettis, so must have been Egidio's mothers, brother's family. I can not find any records for them and can not figure out they're last names. Thanks for any help you can give, it is greatly appreciated. :) Below is a link to the ships manifest. Egidio is on line 10
Thanks ~ Emily

This website is amazing!! Yesterday was an exciting day for me. I recieved a response letter from Comune Di Novara regarding my great great grandmother Rita Ravetta and my great great grandfather Ercole Motta. The letter is in Italian and I am in need of some help translating it. I also recieved with the letter, a paper with the date and place of their marriage. So exciting!!! Below is the letter I am needing help translating :D

Distinti Saluti,

L"UFFICIALE DI STATO CIVILE

Thank You ~ Grazie ~ :D ~ Thank You ~ Grazie ~

They found not the birth records.... because the civil records starting from 1866, so needing of to ask the baptism acts in Novara Diocese.. they sent you only the marriage certificate....

Found baptism records from Novara 1820-1869

Post by signoretti »

In the continuing reserch of my family surnames Ravetta, Motta and Clerici all from Novara, I recently came accross these amazing web addresses that have the baptism records of all babies born between the years 1820-1869. I was so excited!!! I found the full names and birth dates of my g-g-grandparents, their brothers and sisters, and their parents. So wonderful!!

I now am wondering how I would get these records sent from Italy. I have emailed the Novara Diocese about a month ago (before I found this informtion on the web) and unfortunatly have not had a response yet. Would I email them again or send a written request? I now know the exact names and birthdates of the birthrecords I am requesting.

Below are the web addresses for the Novara baptism websites:

http://www.novaria.org/siti/ASD/1820-18291.htm

http://www.novaria.org/siti/ASD/1830-18391.htm

http://www.novaria.org/siti/ASD/1840-1849.htm

http://www.novaria.org/siti/ASD/1850-1859.htm

http://www.novaria.org/siti/ASD/1860-1869.htm

I hope this information will help someone else like it did for me!
I am looking for relatives still living in Novara with the same surnames
listed above.
Anyone with these surnames in the Novara area reading this? :D
The people on this forum are SO helpful and kind!!! I am happy to share this exremely useful information on Novara!!

Any suggestions on the Novara diocese would be much appreciated!!
Thanks ~ Emily
