Cacciotti Surname

Post by vcacciotti »

Hi Everybody,
Just started doing research for my husband's side of the family.
I have joined Ancestry.com and have found some information.

Trying to find information for his Great Grandfather

Cacciotti - This name was changed from Cacciotto when they came to New York.

Born in Aidone Sicily
His Great Grandfather was Nunzio Cacciotti or Cacciotto and his wife was Maria Giustiliso.

Nunzio's son was

Angelo Cacciotti - husband's grandfather
Laura Cacciotti (D'Alu) - husband's grandmother

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You,
Vicki

Hi Vicki and a belated welcome to IG!

Thank You for your reply.
But I already have that information.
My husband is on his way home with about four or five photo
albums so hopefully that will help.

I can't find any information for Nunzio.
I know they all came from Aidone.

Thank You,
Vicki

Hello Vicki!

Are you looking for family records in Italy?
Since all records are kept at the comune level in Italy, one of the ways you can research your family in Aidone is by writing to the comune.
Another is to look for your family's records on microfilm at your nearest Family History Center (LDS)

If you're stuck finding records in the US, if you let us know which ones you're missing we can help you look.

Hi!
Yes several members do.
The best method would be to scan the back of the picture and post a link to the image using an image hosting service (like imageshack)
If you don't have a scanner, if you can decipher the handwriting you can post it on the "Italian language, handwriting , script & translations" section of the forum.

Last residence and place of birth: Aidone

Page 2
Destination: Brooklyn to join cousin Lorenzo ?
Angelo also states he was in the US previously, 1906-1910.

edit to add:

I found a 1913 arrival for Giovanni Bellino, coming from Aidone, leaving in Italy his wife Giuseppa D'Alu, so perhaps she was Laura's sister?

Here is Giovanni Bellino's wife, Giuseppa D'Alu's arrival on 1923 with their child:

page 1:
http://www.ellisisland.org/EIFile/popup ... &line=0023

page 2:
http://www.ellisisland.org/EIFile/popup ... &line=0023

she stated she was in the U.S. from 1913 to 1922 and all their child (except the first, Maria, age 9) were U.S. born...
Her nearest relative in Italy was her mother Gaetana Gagliano in Aidone
