Clemente - Montevago, Agrigento, Sicily
Looking for the Vincenzo Clemente family in Sicily. Daughter Caterina immigrated in September of 1912. Her d.o.b. 1894. She married Domenico Addamo in America. Her mother's name was Vita Amodeo. Any help regarding the Clemente or Amodeo family in Sicily will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to ItalianGenealogy!
We have a great team here at IG, so that members can better direct your search, can you tell us what you have collected so far in way of US records?
(Two post listing parents for both husband and wife)
Do you have birth dates? State of residence? Can you provide the name of their children and year of births for all? Immigration year? Naturalization?
By answering these questions members can then perform a detailed search.

Re: Clemente - Montevago, Agrigento, Sicily
Thank you for your warm welcome!
My husband's line is hard because they all say they don't know anything.
The only thing I have sourced is info on Caterina, but I will give what I have.
Parents as I mentioned are Vincenzo Clemente and Vita Amodeo
Children:
Caterina Clemente b. 14 Jan 1994 in Montevago, Sicily; d. 12 Jul 1965 in North Hampstead, Nassau, NY
Immigrated: 23 Sep 1912 through New York. Came on the SS Stampalia
Married: Domineco Addamo 22 Jul 1915 in Brooklyn, NY
Children: Margherita b. 1918; Francesco b. 1919; Eva b. 1921; Maria b. 1933; Vincenzo b. 1934.
All were born in Brooklyn, Kings, NY and the two that are alive say they don't know anything.
The names of the following children of Vincenzo and Vita come from my husband's Aunt Maria Addamo, Caterina's daughter. I don't know if all of them immigrated. I've found SS Death Indexes on some of these names, but it's no guarantee it's them.
Maria: don't have her married name, but her children's names are: Giovanna, Vincenzo and Calogero
Peppe: children are Pietro, Caterina, Vincenzo, Vita, Leonarda
Vincenza: don't have her married name, but her children's names are: Calogero, Vincenzo and Giovanna
Vito: Vita (Barrile), Giovanni, Giuseppe, Salvatore and Vincenzo
Vita: there's a notation that reads "tutti Venzuela?" I don't know what this means.
On the notes I see the name Gioacchino Barrile who is living now and gave all of what he knew to Maria Addamo. I believe he's in Italy because there is a foreign phone number after his name. He must be related to Vita (Clemente) Barrile.
This is what I have and I hope it helps me get more info.
Thanks!

Hello Valerie,
Yes, that's my site. I knew about the 1920 and 1930 census records, I'm surprised I haven't linked them yet. Thanks so much for your help, I'll get that done!

Re: Clemente - Montevago, Agrigento, Sicily
@ Addamo,
Salve! We (my family and I) have been researching our tree as far to the roots as we can get. What we found was a Sicilian origin (which we already assumed), more exactly a town called Montevago in Agrigento. I can't help but make a connection to your Vita. My great grandfather, Santo, immigrated (on his own) to Brooklyn from Sicily. His father's name was Giuseppe. Reading this thread I saw something about a Giuseppe; if you've found anything out about your ancestry that relates to Giuseppe or any of his kin, any input would be appreciated.
Grazie

I wish I had good news for you. I have not been able to learn anything new. Vincenzo and Vita were my husband's great grandparents. Any research at this point would have to be done in Italy and I don't speak nor read the language. It was Vincenzo and Vita's daughter that immigrated to NY in 1912. She did marry and live in Brooklyln. She married Francesco Addamo. I'm sorry I can't be of more help.
