Butare family name

Hello,
I'm trying to find out some info about my family name, Butare. We have no known relatives other than immediate family, and the family name will die out in this generation.
My name is Paul Butare
Father's name Joseph Butare
His father (born in Calabria Italy), is John Butare

We fear that the name was changed inadvertently somewhere along the line.

Anyone out there with any information?

This may be a possibility since there are no Butare listed in the Ellisisland.,org website and neither in the Italy surname distribution at www.gens.labo.net/en/cognomi which willenabvle you to try to locate a correct surname if you feel that there may have been a mispelling somewhere in time or place.

As things now stand there is no listing in the Italian surname dictionary nor is there any variation for Butare stemming off another surname. The Ellisisland.org website for Butare has many variations which you should research. It is quite possible that Butare may be a local surname or an italianized versionof an imported foreign surname

The word dictionary has no listing for Butare but has several meanings if the word become buttare with a double T. Try this inthe surname distributionmentioned above and also try Buttare in the www.paginebianche.it telephone guide for Calabria putting in Buttare. =Peter=

Will have to keep looking...Could be Butari or Butera as well. We just don't have any good records....
