Help find Ship Manifest

Post by hamchuck »

Ok I have tried NARA, Ancestry and Ellis Island looking for a ship manifest. The following info is from his DOI and Pet of Nat. The elusive culprits name is:

Demetrio Dore
Born: Sept 30, 1874 Bessude, Sassari, Italy
Emigrated: June 1, 1906 from Genoa, Italy to New York and arrived on June 12, 1906
Vessel: Princess Irene

Has a brother: Emilo
DOI # 62446
Pet # 10661

Why can I not find him?? Anyone who can find his manifest must be considered a Master :D

I hope someone can help me. I have spent a lot of hours hunting for this.

Thanks
Ham

I looked around some. I think the name of the ship is Prinzess Irene. I looked at the sailings for the Prinzess Irene for 1906 and still did not find anything. I'm looking for a ship manifest also. Might be mutilated and never transcribed.

Good Luck.
Looking for Biagianti, Modesti & Vincenti in Tuscany and Tomaino, Curcio, Mazza, & Rizzo in Calabria

A few more details,

Sanna is listed as Demetrio's mother's maiden name.

1930 census lists him as Dore Demetrio.

1920 census lists him as Demetrio Dora, and gives 1908 as his year of immigration.

Sanna was their mother's maiden name. Dora was a clerk typist mistake. I have the document where he has to resign his name because clerk typed up Dora.

BIG CLUE MAYBE

But one thing I just found. Last foreign residence was Bone (Algeria) Africa.

Hello suanj,

Is this common for the naturalization records to state a ship and date, but the petitioner may not have be truthful or was just wrong? Could he be off by a few years? His 1920 census states 1908.

What would your next step be?

Thanks,
Ham
