Carlo and Teresa Reggio, help needed

Post by vintagegamer »

I'm sure many of you have been in the same boat that I currently am, so I'm going to see if anyone can assist with this- Teresa Reggio is my great grandmother, and was born in 1889. She came to the U.S. with her fiancée (Joseph Ghione) and lived here until her death in 1970 (in PA). I have details of all of her descendants.

My issue is, I'm 99% sure I have who I think is her brother and HIS descendants, who remained in Italy. The person in question is Carlo Reggio, who from what I have had 3 children, Caterina born in 1920, Giovanni born on/around 1927, and a third child I do not have the name for, born on/around 1915. They all remained in Italy as far as I know.

Is there anyone who might be able to help with getting a positive lock on the fact that Teresa and Carlo were brother and sister? I know Carlo married a woman with the first name of Agostina, and I have pictures of Teresa Reggio as well that I can send or post.

If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks,

Jim

I forgot to mention that Carlo's daughter, Caterina, lives in Sezzadio (with husband Giuseppe Dadaglio), and I'm pretty sure the rest of the family was from the same general area. Thanks again!

well, I found a ship manifest abt your ancestors; the Teresa name is crossed( because transferred in 2° class or so; it is no much readable) and bat Teresa no data:

New York Passenger Lists, 1820-1957
about Teresa Reggio Ghione
Name: Teresa Reggio Ghione
Arrival Date: 13 Mar 1912
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1888
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Port of Departure: Havre,Fra
Ethnicity/Race/Nationality: Italian (South) (Italian)
Ship Name: Caroline
Port of Arrival: New York, New York
NATIVITY: Italy
Line: 21
Microfilm Serial: T715
Microfilm Roll: T715_1818
Birth Location: Italy
Page Number: 107

but Giuseppe and Teresa coming from Cassinasco town; Giuseppe was born in Canelli town... father Paolo Ghione in Cassinasco; she is listed as wife and not fiancee.... it is possible that Cassinasco was the birthplace of Teresa?
It is very important to know the birtharea as a well the italian residence town... if Caterina Reggio lives in Sezzadio with Giuseppe husband, you know the Giuseppe surname? almost for to make a search by phone directory...
if you can say us the Teresa birth place ( Cassinasco or not) and some other detail, maybe it could be helpful, regards,
suanj
PS: on naturalization paper of Joseph Ghione, he declaring born in Cassinasco, and teresa wife born in Alessandria.. but Alessandria town or some common in Alessandria province ??

If you feel that they may be brother and sister then why don't you request a Certificato di Stato di familia storico by head of family name in the comune where they resided. (family certificate that shows PDOB of each family member)

Not knowing if you need a form letterin Italian go to
http://www.angelfire.com/ok3/pearlsofwi ... tters.html

Thanks for your help, suanj- I had to go back and edit my post a few times, and added the surname for Caterina and Giuseppe, but it was probably after you viewed the post. Their surname is Dadaglio.

I really appreciate you looking this info up for me. As for Teresa and Giuseppe Ghione, it is possible that they were married before they came to the U.S. These are details that my family is trying to learn at this time as well.

Regards,

Jim

Thanks for the info and advice, Peter- info beyond her and her potential brother is sketchy for me at this time, so that's why I was trying to see what I could find out online before resorting to other submissions. Greatly appreciated.

Suanj are you able to bring up this piece of research again? For some reason the link is no longer active, and I just found another lead in my family history that might point to this person.

Thanks,
