Hello,
in Italy there are a lot of Rea in
Appiano Gentile Como (CO) - Lombardia

If your ancestor is from there, you can contact Appiano Gentile civil records office

Municipio Appiano Gentile
Piazza Liberta', 13
22070 Appiano Gentile (CO)

and this is Como State Archive where to find also civil records

http://www.novantiqua.it/como/info.htm

and to request civil records, use this web site very good if you don't write italian

http://www.circolocalabrese.org/resourc ... /index.asp

here there is the parish of Appiano Gentile where to find church records

S. Stefano di Appiano Gentile (CO)
Piazza Libertà, 22070, Appiano Gentile, (CO)
LOMBARDIA - Italy

This are the FHL microfilma about Appiano Gentile civil records

http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library ... ato+civile++

I hope it helps, bye ricbru :lol:

Hi: are two Appiano in Italy, but all in north Italy...

-the first in Lombardy region, Como province: Appiano Gentile town;
-the second in Trentino Alto Adige region, Bolzano province: Appiano sulla Strada del Vino town.

But the first name SANTO let me understand that most probable was of South Italy; in fact in Italy north the same first name are in SantE shape.. but all is possible, also i can say that some Santo REA coming from ARPINO town(caserta province, Campania region) you sure that the spelling is Appiano and no Arpino? Rea is an surname tipical of Italy south...........
More: also Santo lived in Navenby, Lincolshire-UK?
regards, suanj

My grandparents Domenico & Maria (nee Rea) Rea were from Arpino in Frosinone, Lazio. How close is Arpino to where your family originated?

My great grandfather was Anotonio Carnevale married to Rosa Stradona. They had 4 children Pietro (came to Canada in 1904), Francesco ( my grandfather came to Canada in 1906), Teresa married Guiseppe Sperdini and immigrated to New York City, Maria( stayed in Pico Frosinone). Francesco lived in Pembroke Ontario, married Rose Mayhew and had 6 children, Isabel(North Bay, Ontario) Irene (Pembroke Ontario), Marcelline(Troy New York), Frances (Pembroke,Ontario) Vincent deceased (Pembroke)and Parnel (Pembroke,Ontario).
I am trying to trace Maria Carnevale (married to Casciano) and her family who were born in Pico Frosinone. Someone told me to find birth, death certicates that I may be able to find them by writing to the local priest. I do not know the name of the church in Pico Frosinone. Can anyone help me. Thanks Heather

Hi my grandmother was Theresa Carnevale Sperdini.she lived with her husband Stanislao and 6 kids Nick (Natale),Tony,Peter,Benjamin,Maria,and Louis in the Bronx for many years and died in her late 90's.
The family is scattered now and some of the children have passed on.I don't believe the Sperdini name has been carried on and will end with the generation now aging.
I didn't know my where my grandmother came from and was perhaps told at one time she came from around Naples. About my grandfather's origins I know even less.
It was very interesting to know she imigrated to Canada with her family.

I think this may be your grandfather's manifest. If so, he was from Pico.

The Carnevale name is also common in Pico. Have you seen these threads.
