Need help finding family genealogy
Need help finding family genealogy
This is my first post on this forum, but i have seen numerous posts where people have been greatly helped. I am visiting Italy in 6 months and would love to find the birth place of my grandfather, figured this would be a great gift for my mother. I am also looking to write to that particular town for a birth certificate. My mother tells me that she believes he is born in or around Naples.
I have been able to find census reports in the states, but that seems to be the only info i am able to find. I have been unable to find the port in which he and his parents arrived.
According to the census reports my grnadfather, his father, his mother, and his brother arrived in 1913.
His name is Patrick (Patsy or Pasquale) Salatiello b. 3/29/1913, his father is Frank (Francisco) b. 1890 and mother Annie (Nania) b. 1888, and brother Benjamin b. 1912.
I have hit a road block, hope you all may be able to help me out and point me in the right direction of where to look.

Re: Need help finding family genealogy
Thanks Laura,
I knew either you or vj would come through. I need to spend some time practicing with Imageshack. I'm hopeless.
But, I was right about Calvizzano. There are many Salatiello still there.

Misbris:
Should i just write to the city hall in the address you provided, or to the stato civile del comune?

Re: Need help finding family genealogy
Direct your letter to
Ufficio: Stato Civile ed Elettorale
at that same city hall address.
You need the correct year of birth in order for them to find the birth records.
If you want to do some of the searching yourself, the Family History Center has the town records from 1809 to 1929.

Yes, I found the records on Ancestry. They also have some records for Benjamin.
Happy hunting
and if you need any other help, just let us know.

Re: Need help finding family genealogy
Dear Misbris unless policy has changed it used to be that one can submit an approximate date or year of birth within a decade when the exact date is unknown. Are you aware of any changes to this policy? =Peter=
~Peter~
Re: Need help finding family genealogy
Dear Peter,
I didn't even know there was such a policy. Where can I find it?
I can only tell you from my experience last month looking through these huge, dusty ledgers that it is unlikely for a clerk in a small comune to go through 10 years worth of books to find one person.
In fact, rather than try that method to find my grandmother's birth records, the wonderful woman there went to my grandfather's birth record to cross reference their marriage date to find my grandmother's date of birth.

Re: Need help finding family genealogy
hello! I know it has been a long time, but sbfd48 I believe we are related. Frank Salatiello was my great grandfather and Benjamin F Salatiello was my grandfather. My cousin patricia (through Benjamin's daughter Tina Ann) and I (through Benjamin's son Thomas) have been trying to find our family's Italian Birth City. Please get in touch as my cousin thinks she knows Patsy well and we would love to connect and hope you figured out where our Worcester Family originated from in Italy.
