The Italian sound of Iurato is the same (well, more or less) of the English Urato, so it's obvious the first I was lost in some transcription. Not a surprise considering my enrbonza became enrabronzo! :)

In Italian "urato", is a very specific chemical adjective, indicating a salt of uric acid.
I'd say that a change in the first vowel is quite probable, considering the word "irato" is more common and means "angry".
Maybe you can check if in Siracusa the surname "Irato" is still common.

My biggest concern is with contacting family members in Italy, being from the states is like a check against me already is it not?
