In the Feb. 27, 2012 post, I stated:
There are two other posters: jimnerv who is Tony Nervina's son who lives in Owasco (but probably has as much as his father) and also jnervina - so PM them, too.
Dave
Tony corrected me after Mass today that Jim is his nephew, not son. I told him I better make ...

Re: Surname Ciarla/Ciarlo to Charles
The photos are cut off on the right in these windows - so you can't see the LVRR station and roundhouse - just right click, Save As, and use a viewer. If you can convert to pdf, then magnifying without distortion would be possible. I used a photo loupe and could see my aunt's house near the corner ...

Re: Surname Ciarla/Ciarlo to Charles
Lorraine,
Here's the aerial photo of the Alco factory and area. I said the blue building along Columbus Street was called the Navy building because it was put up during the war and they made diesel engines for submarines, etc. Aunt Gracie worked there then; she said they told her the plates she ...

Re: Surname Ciarla/Ciarlo to Charles
I thought I had my Baptism late at 6 months (my parents could not agree on a name) but some relatives had it at 3 years.
And my First Communion was at 5 also - just sent my daughter some photos from then. We looked very angelic.
Did you ask your your siblings how it came to be? That would be a ...

OOPs - Hi Livio - good to hear from you and correcting me again! Remember the Piazza photo that was backward?
There are other First Communions going on including my granddaughter's on Easter.

Re: Surname Ciarla/Ciarlo to Charles
Lorraine,
Sorry to hear about more losses in your family.
Last month my cousin Stan, who found my father's diary from WWII, was also lost. That diary let me know a lot about my father so I am eternally grateful to Stan for that, not to mention his friendship.
Again we saw the two cousins at ...

Re: Surname Ciarla/Ciarlo to Charles
Lorraine,
I called at Aunt Gracie's and talked to Mickey about the posts - she said they saw you a few weeks ago, at a wake for Peter's mother-in-law. One of the places family get together, unfortunately.
She was surprised at all the info and I gave her the website (again) - other times it was ...

Lorraine,
First want to send my condolences for your mother -
You are right about Aunt Gracie - can't wait to call her tomorrow.

Lorraine,
We asked my mother's cousin, Tony Nervina, about any photos, but he had none. We just missed two other cousins after Mass but will try again.

Hi Lorraine,
Barbara Charles (BSNCLR) started this topic and is directly related to you, as well as my mother who raised me (she and my birth mother were cousins). Her grandmother, who she named for, was Antonia Ciarla Nervino, the sister of Leonardo and Giuseppe/Frank.

Susan,
Just saw your reply - only a few months late. Don't know why an e-mail notification wasn't sent.
Looking today for a post I think you made about how to list the names, birth dates etc. to make it easier for everyone to read. That's how I found this. I want to pass it on to others who are ...

Dave,
A couple of manifest possibilities
for Emilio Ferro.
Valarie
According to 1920 census that suanj :D
found on your other post,
Emilio may have immigrated in 1914
(after son Frank was born).
Is this the Ellis manifest you & suanj found,
that indicated an Emilio that was single?

Domenica Basile Found Finally
After searching for almost 9 years, finally found my foster dad's mother - thanks to this forum, Gente di Mare, Amici and others. Thought I might post the story to help others in their quest and also to say "Don't give up - clues might just pop up"
Next: find her husband, Francesco Basile and come ...
