Re: Please, What is this first name in Italian?

As she copied it from the record, she wrote Alchemede. We know that it could be mispelled as has been the case most of the time. Im trying to find a close alternate spelling though. No s on the end, but maybe the person writing it down originally interpreted it wrong. Maybe Archimedes then, is that ...

Please, What is this first name in Italian?

Alchemede. It was on the actual birth certificate at city hall for my grand uncle. Then his name was changed at baptism to John, with the birth certificate attached to the baptismal record. Is there another spelling for this first name ALCHEMEDE?

Re: Can anyone find the origin of...

suanj, if you look at that draft card, you will see that she lists her name as Proselpina, Prosperina LOSCHI Bianchi. This is the wife of Joseph 1 who is my great grandfather. They did not get married until a month after this. This woman we think, is Josephina Loschi. All records and dates match her ...

Re: Can anyone find the origin of...

Thank you very much suanj. Pietro Loschi is listed as the father of Josephine (Giuseppina) Loschi. Her mother's name is of question also. She is listed as a Biraldi, and her first name is unknown. The Josephine in question would be the one married to Joseph I (1920 Census) father of Tidera (Thedea ...

Can anyone find the origin of...

Josephine (Giussipina, Giussipine) Loschi. My genealogist and I are stopped right here. We cannot find her birth record, immigration record, or record of her maternal mother. It seems that this is a mystery. The details of what we know about her are below.

These locations are in Connecticut.

1910 ...

Re: One very important question..

This is some personal recollection from my mom about Theda Bianchi's siblings. Excerpts from an email.

Hi Chris: Mom having a brother named Anthony is news to me. As far as I know, her brothers were Joseph, John, and Peter and her sister was Lucy. I remember a Aunt Amelia being talked about, but I ...

One very important question..

This is very important.

Would it be customary at the turn of the century 1800-1900 for an italian woman, when asked to give or list HER maiden name, give HER mother's name instead of her father's name? This would concern marriage documents, birth documents or any official document. This concerns ...

Re: Any assistance appreciated

Here is the second part of her letter to me.

The surprise I had was that I couldn't find a marriage record for them. They were married in the 1910 census, and we figured earlier that they had to have gotten married in 1909, or later 1908, or early 1910. The brides' and grooms' indexes for that ...

Re: Any assistance appreciated

Okay, here is an update. The woman helping me actually belongs to the Genealogical Society of Connecticut, and she is a God send. She copied down the data, because she said they cannot take pictures or make copies of the records or their rights are revoked. She told me I can order the copies for I ...

Re: Any assistance appreciated

Just an update. I am in contact with a individual who also searches geneology in New Haven, Ct. She volunteered to help me free of charge like you all, that is going to New Haven vital records for me to try to get information, and even going to the cemetery and taking pictures. I forwarded all the ...

I believe you are right James. If you look at Bianchi, the writers h and i are identical.
