I won my case and the judge is going to sign a court order so I can get a delayed filing of my grandmother's birth certificate.

I filed a complaint to issue a retro-active birth record. it's a court order, every state is different and the state I am dealing with is NJ

I would like to know more too as it is similiar to my case:

1)me

2) mother (born 1948)

3) grandmother (born in USA, married 1935 to an Italian born citizen of the USA that was naturalized in 1922)

4) great grandfather, never naturalized

I have already checked with the consulate. the do not need to be from a pro or certified. only done "professionally", which is what I intend to do.

I will of course have my friend, a native italian speaker give them a quick once over...

I plan on doing the translations myself for my jus sanguinis citizen app.

are there any good templates out there?

should I just use my italian ancestors birth certificate and marriage docs as guidelines?

The grandmother would have lost her citizenship because she married a US Citizen before 1948. Her child was born after Jan 1, 1948 yes, but she was no longer able to pass citizenship on ...

i never realized that my grandmother had lost her italian citizenship b/c she married a Italian born, US naturalized citizen. Not that it makes much of a difference that my grandfather was born in Italy. He renounced his citizenship. I guess being a single ...
