Re: Help with bride's name
Thank you! I thought that is what it looked like, but it seems an uncommon name (first time seeing it in many years of family research), so I thought I might be misreading it.

Help with bride's name
I would much appreciate help with reading the bride's name in the attached 1661 marriage record from Pietraperzia, Sicily. The record in question is #56, in the middle of the right hand page. As I read it, the groom is Giovanni, son of Luciano and Filippa Riccobene. I believe that the bride's ...

Old Sicilian profession
Can anyone tell me what a Polveraio does? I've seen this written as an occupation on several marriage and death records, but I have not found a good translation of what someone who is a polveraio does. Thank you!

Translation of marriage bann
I would greatly appreciate some help with the attached marriage (bann?) document for Sebastiano Sanguedolce, from Pietraperzia, Sicily, from 1676. I believe his parents are Filippo and Agata.
His bride is Filippa, daughter of Francesco and Grazia, but I cannot understand a surname for them, or ...

Hi all,
I am having great difficulty with this 1674 marriage bann for Antonino Rizza, son of Bartolo and Maria, especially with the information on his intended wife. Any help would be greatly appreciated! The record, and the link to the page, are below.

Help with death record, please
Could anyone please translate this death record for Antonino Corvo? It is from Pietraperzia, Sicily, in 1673, and seems unlike many of the other death records I've seen. Does it include his age?
I've attached a closeup of the record itself and a link to see the whole page.
Thank you very much for ...

Re: Translation help
Thank you Pippo! Yes, it is a strange record! Also strange is that the name is written as Barliri, which I discovered after comparing and matching many, many records was an alternate version of Barrile. In some cases, they even spelled it Barliri in an index, then Barrile on the actual record, or ...

Translation help
Any help with translating this 1667 marriage announcement (is it a bann or an actual marriage record?) from Sicily would be much appreciated. I've copied the whole page, but it is the item #231 on the right column, beginning with the name Antonino, that I need help with. The link to the page is ...

Baptismal record help
Hi all,
Am I correct in reading that the father Giuseppe in this 1665 baptismal record (#898 on the attached page) for Filippa Giacoma d'Amico was deceased at the time of her birth? Or does the deceased notation (which I have typically seen in front of the name of the deceased), refer to the mother ...

Re: Help with marriage record
Hah, no he didn't. And get this: Catalda died on 2 Jan 1673, and Domenico (my 7th great-grand) married his second wife, Ippolita, on 8 Feb 1673. Ippolita died several months later on 13 Oct 1673, and he married Caterina (my 7th great-grand) just 3 months later on 7 Jan 1674. Life was tough in those ...

Re: Help with marriage record
FYI, Just found the death record for Domenico's widow, and it looks like her first name was Catalda (hard to read), which I have seen as a surname, but never, before this, as a given name. The record does not include, that I can see, her surname. Adding the link below, for your interest. Thanks ...
