Re: The Mayor of Campofelice di Roccella (il Sindaco)

PS: One thing to mention (not sure if this makes a difference?). Giacinto's wife, Giuseppa Civello - her father's name was Don Castrenze Civello, and he was an arbitriante by profession. Several of Giuseppa's brothers were "civile".

Not sure if this helps clarify the full family's status or even ...

Re: Help finding marriage record? (Campofelice di Roccella, 1830s)

The purpose of marriage banns is to ensure that there are no impediments to the marriage for either of the betrothed parties. In this case, this essentially means that the betrothed must not be currently married or too closely related. For this reason, the banns are published in the places where ...

The Mayor of Campofelice di Roccella (il Sindaco)

Hi everyone!

I am trying to determine if my 5th-Great-Grandfather, Maestro Giacinto Macaluso, was the mayor of Campofelice di Roccella at one point in time!

I located the marriage record of Giacinto's daughter, Donna Vincenza Macaluso, who was married in Campofelice di Roccella in 1833. When ...

Don Salvatore Civello and Donna Innocenzia Ruggieri had a number of children who were born in Campofelice di Roccella, starting with Genuelfa Civello (born in 1842). Genuelfa's Birth Record can be found on Page 18 here: https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/ark:/12657/an_ua436385/Lp1V7Q1 They had ...

Help finding marriage record? (Campofelice di Roccella, 1830s)

Hi everyone! I hope everyone is doing well!

I'm doing some research on my Sicilian family ancestry from the town of Campofelice di Roccella (formerly Campofelice).

I have two uncles living there at that point in time:

1) Don Salvatore Civello, who was married to Donna Innocenzia Ruggieri
2) Don ...

Re: Grandfather's Death Record in Marriage Processetti

Hi everyone! I hope everyone is having a great week!

I have heard that a grandfather's death record was often included in the marriage processetto if a man's father and grandfather were both dead. Is this true?

To explain - I am trying to locate the death record for my 7th-Great-Grandfather ...

You can try Giovanni Maria Ammassari.
He is based in Apulia, though not exactly in that area, so maybe he can help.
I don't know about his fees, but he is very accurate.
I know him (not personally) for his cooperation to the Italian genealogy site www.tuttogenealogia.it
Here are his contacts ...

Re: Gaetano Favazza

Ciao paisan! I truly hope you get the father's day gift you were looking for! A few things

1) Could you share the atto for Luigi when you get the chance?

2) Do you know where Luigi was married? If he was married in Italy, you could obtain his marriage processetti which could give you a birth or ...

Genealogist Recommendations or Advice? (Seeking Records from Orta Nova, 1684–1697)

Hi everyone! I’m searching for baptism, marriage, or death records from Orta Nova (formerly Orta dei Gesuiti) between 1684–1697 ! Unfortunately, I'm not having much luck!

At the time, Orta was fully controlled by the Jesuits, who ran the church Santa Maria delle Grazie, built in 1645. A baptismal ...

Re: Grandfather's Death Record in Marriage Processetti

I'm not expert of 1700's processetti, but in 1800 I've very often found the declaration that the spouse did "not know where and when his/her grandfather passed away". I think that was because :
- it was not easy to get a certificate from another town
- it was probably an expense
- they really DID ...

Re: Can I access records in a Diocesan Archive in Italy?

Most towns have multiple old churches with one of them as the main church. When I detoured from my tour group and went for less than 3 hours to the small town of Racalmuto, Sicily, there were 4 churches - all next to each other. I went in the first church on the corner which was open, found a ...

Can I access records in a Diocesan Archive in Italy?

Hello! I am traveling to Italy next year, and I was thinking of doing my own genealogical research in the Diocesan Archives of Troia, Foggia. I'd like to look through marriage processetti from the years 1715 to 1740.

However, I live in the United States, and I've never done any genealogical ...
