Info. on the ship "Canopic"

Post by Angie55 »

My grandfather's immigration records indicate that he departed Naples and arrived in Boston, Ma. on June 27, 1911. Supposedly, the ship's name was the "Canopic."
At least one record I found stated that the ship landed in Boston in July, not June.
I may have the ship's manifest, but the names are not totally accurate as sometimes happens.
I'm looking for any help regarding this ship and that specific date.
Thank you.

Here is an Boston Migration arrival index card.
Showing Anna Scardone (maiden name - age 32) and children Giovanni (age 1) Giuseppe (age 5) and Maddalena (age 7) Dancello arriving on June 26, 1911 on the SS Canopic into Boston.
The original manifest would be List (page) 9, lines 23 through 26.

Alphabetical Boston passenger list showing their manifest page and lines, and their destination... "Cincinnatus, NY"
She is listed as Annina Scardone

Here is the original ship manifest. They are on lines 23-26
Listed as Scardone (Italian women keep their maiden names) with annotation above giving surname Dancello (for her and her 3 children.)
Last residence Sulmona. Leaving her mother Berardina Scardone. Destination is to her husband/their father Filippo D'Ancelo, Box 81, Cincinnatus, NY.
Place of birth - Greccio
NOTE: There are numerical notations on the line for Annina Scardone and for Giuseppe Dancello showing that the naturalization process was started. You will have to verify that it was completed.

Thank you all so much.
The family name was spelled D'angelo at that time, but was modified to DiAngelo later.
The names Anna Scardone and the children are in fact the relatives I've been searching for.
I'm very grateful for the links.
