Today what I feel is the birth record for my husband's grandfather appeared in Familysearch. I have been searching for this for many years.
I would appreciate help in translating the document. We had the mother's name, Angela Zarone and the father's name, Giacomo Laurenza but my husband said his grandfather had been adopted so we weren't sure if the names were the birth parents or the adopted parents. I'm thinking they were the birth parents!
Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thank you! DeMari

Luigi Laurenza
Re: Luigi Laurenza
The parents of Luigi Laurenza are Giacomo Laurenza and Angela Zarone.
In this declaration of birth dated 14 June 1888, the declarant Agostino Laurenza, age 60, farmer, declares that a male child was born of married couple Giacomo Laurenza and Angela Zarone now deceased (both). The child was given the name Luigi.
The date of birth given in the record is 15 September 1867.
This record is by court order authorizing it.

Re: Luigi Laurenza
Greetings Tessa, Thank you ever so much. Do you know why there was a court order by any chance? I found the passenger list for Luigi and he emigrated to the USA in 1892. Would you know where Italian adoption records could be found? I'm wondering if Agostino might have adopted Luigi. My husband said he remembering that Luigi's aunt and uncle adopted him. The fun of genealogy is you get excited when you find a new record and then more questions arise. Enjoy your day and thank you again! DeMari
Re: Luigi Laurenza
The courts would need to authorize a "delayed record of birth" such as this. It is a kind of verification.
It is possible that the original birth act did not exist, was lost, etc.
It is possible that Luigi applied for a passport or travel papers and could not produce his birth act...many possibilities. Did he marry in Italy? He would have needed a birth act for that as well.
Yes, my thoughts are that Agostino Laurenza might have raised him....and might be an uncle. That would take further research...
In this family tree, both parents died when Luigi was young... Giacomo in 1872, and Angela in 1875

Formal adoptions were rare, most often just given unto a family to be cared for and raised.
Blood relatives would just do that automatically...
Can you post Luigi's arrival, please?

An early one. Not much additional information provided.
It matches with a birth year of 1867.
