Hi All,

I'm a bit confused, the poster stated that Salvatore was born in January 3, 1886, and died 1967. The SS Info Nuccia found has the correct name and dates, but wrong Birth Year. I just found a WWI Draft Card for a Salvatore with the January 3, 1895 birth year. Are we looking at two different Salvatores?

Only ceil23 can confirm I guess...to many similarities here. I think its the same person. Ancestry often has the dates off by 1 year...It happened in family and I was able to confirm because the people I checked it against are living.

Hopefully, they are one in the same for the Ship Manifest I found has Salvatore being born around 1886.

sorry about the confusion, the 1886 is the birthday of Salvatore's brother, my grandfather Giuseppe Porrovecchio. Salvatore was born on Jan. 3rd, 1895......my brain wasn't working this morning...I confused the dates.....Please forgive me

I would assume the people coming from Monreale with the name Porrovecchio are all related to me in some way, Monreale is a small town, I was there in 1979, some of the names I do know living in New Orleans, but I'm sure some had to go to diferent parts of the country...whether they kept in touch I will never know. I didn't reconize the name of the Uncle that Salvatore was going to stay with upon his arrival in New Orleans....will have to research that later on......could be I didn't get to meet him as a child.

SO SORRY about the Confusion on Salvadore's Birth Date, it was 1895.

my line of Porrovicchio s settled in Maryland after stops in Pitt. PA, and Chicago. My Great grandfather (paternal) was Louis Porrovicchio. I belive he came over inthe 1910s.

Where did your grandfather come from??? Mine came from Monreale Sicily...I don't know what Louis is in Italian, do you?? What you have read so far on this site is all I have on the Porrovecchio's....that is my maiden name. My people settled in New Orleans, but that doesn't mean we can't be distant cousins. I'm in the process of moving now, once I get settled I hope to get to the LDS family Center and do more research. My family is from Monreale, my father's side name is Piro and his wife's name is Tumminillo, they left out of Palermo in 1897 and arrived in New Orleans. They must have all known each other.
