Obituary
Press Democrat, The (Santa Rosa, CA) - June 8, 1996
Deceased Name: JOSEPHINE BIAGI
Josephine Biagi, a native of Sonoma County who lived all her life in the ''Little Italy'' area of west Santa Rosa, died June 1 at a Santa Rosa hospital following a short illness. She was 91.

Biagi, who was born Josephine Bellotti, was one of eight children. She lived in three houses during her 91 years, all of them in the area west of Wilson Street where many of the Italian immigrant families settled in the late 1800's and the early part of this century.

''She never left what was once known as Little Italy. It was her home,'' said son-in-law Norman Bates of Santa Rosa.

Biagi, a homemaker, worked for 40 years at Exchange Linen Service in Santa Rosa. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, remembered for her caring ways and love of flower gardening.

She retired from Exchange Linen Service in 1967 when her husband, Joseph Biagi, died. He worked for many years as a janitor at the Exchange Bank in Santa Rosa.

She is survived by her daughter, Josephine Bates of Santa Rosa; brother, Nello Bellotti of El Sobrante; and by four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Services will begin at 9:30 a.m. today at Lafferty & Smith Colonial Chapel and then continue to St. Eugene's Cathedral, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow.

The family suggests memorial contributions to a favorite charity.

Two of uncle Nicola’s children’s obituaries
Press Democrat, The (Santa Rosa, CA) - September 2, 2002

Deceased Name: ALBERT BIAGI

Albert Biagi was born and raised in Santa Rosa's Old Italian Town in the city's west end, never forgetting his humble roots and Italian heritage during a lifetime dedicated to good food, hard work and family.
Biagi, a jovial guy who made friends with bank tellers and grocery checkers, died of cancer Wednesday at his Santa Rosa home. He was diagnosed with the disease in January and had been in increasingly poor health since June. He was 81.

''This was a man who loved people and made friends wherever he went. He loved being with people, especially his family and counted Fourth of July his favorite holiday because it was when the Biagi family got together for an annual reunion,'' said niece Natalie Berg of Petaluma.
Biagi, the sixth of Nick and Carola Angela Biagi's nine children, grew up in west Santa Rosa during the early part of the century when Italians worked at the macaroni factory, tannery and Del Monte cannery.

''He was very proud of his Italian heritage and kept in touch with many of the people he grew up with in Santa Rosa,'' said Berg.
Biagi was one of the founders of the West End Gang, a group of Italian old-timers who got together monthly for lunch at Michele's Restaurant to remember the old days between forkfuls of rigatoni.
Although Biagi and his wife Willadean didn't have children, he was the beloved ''Uncle Al from Guadalcanal'' to generations of nieces and nephews in the Biagi family, a clan numbering nearly 100 at holiday gatherings. He took an interest in the lives of younger family members, extolling the virtues of hard work and the value of a good education.
''Uncle Al always encouraged us to follow our dreams and be the best we could be,'' said Berg. ''Although he didn't go to college, he was a lifelong learner who loved history and the other cultures.''

Biagi was trained as an electrician in Navy, serving during World War II. After the war, he worked as an electrician at the Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo, retiring in 1975.
In retirement, Biagi strengthened ties with family here and in Italy, studied the Italian language, played bocce ball and volunteered at polenta and pasta feeds at Resurrection Parish.
He was a member of the Italian American Club and the Italian Catholic Federation.

In addition to his wife Willadean, he is survived by his brother, Marino Biagi of Santa Rosa; his sister, Lois Del Querra of Santa Rosa; and by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his twin sister, Alvera Biagi, and five other siblings.

A Catholic Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Rose Church. Burial is at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Evening Vigil Rite Services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at Daniels Chapel of the Roses. Visitation will be held at the mortuary from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Heartland Hospice, 825 Sonoma Ave., Santa Rosa, 95405 or a favorite charity.

He was a member of the West End Gang, a group of Italian local friends who met for lunch monthly, an alumni member of Santa Rosa High School and a journeyman meat cutter for over 30 years. My grandmother remembers that Giuseppe and Giuseppina BIAGI, had only two children: a daughter, called Geraldine and a son, Joseph Francis.
In the
Press Democrat, The (Santa Rosa, CA) - June 8, 1996
Deceased Name: JOSEPHINE BIAGI
they writing:
She is survived by her daughter, Josephine Bates of Santa Rosa
but she could be the second name of Geraldine.

Then, this is the family tree:

Giuseppe BIAGI/Giuseppina BIAGI -------> children ---> Joseph Francis and Geraldine (Josephine???) BIAGI

My grandmother also remembers that Joseph Francis, about 1945-1950, was in germany, during the military service, and he went to find the relatives of his parents, to Filattiera-Italy. My grandmother knew him in that occasion. He was accompanied by a relative, called Paolo (alias Paolino), to know the places of them origin.

Tanks for your help; but, from that link, I don't understand what my relatives are. There are not records about Brittain Street, Santa Rosa.
The only my relative sure, is Cheryl BIAGI of Palm Beach Gardens FL. She has a restaurant. I wanted her email to be faster to contact her, but I will have to send her a letter.

I have found this article (see page 5) of West Palm Beach, FL. She could be the Cheryl BIAGI that I am looking for. West Palm Beach, FL is one of her addresses
