razg wrote:...My uncle was one of twins. Their names were Nicolos and Anthony( American names). They must have been born in S. Agata di Puglia Foggia since my Grandfather arrived from there. One was in the American army and the other in the Italian the both died in WW1 I assumed Nicolos was in the American army...
suanj,
I can't find him either. Perhaps he went back and fought with the Italian army (& with his brother) Another search could be done for his WWI Card in the US if we knew his birth date.

Thank-you for finding the correct manifest. I have tried to locate him in the US military data base with no luck. There was a fire at the records depository in 1973 and all army records of personnel from 1912 to 1960 for letters A thru H were lost and no copies available.

It is true that there was a fire that destroyed the military recprds through 1960 but, when I wrote for information on my uncle they did locate a pay voucher when he mustered out of the service after WW II. It had quite a bit of information on it about him. If you haven't written I would suggest you do so. As long as you have a birth date, service number or some other identifiable information it would help in their search. You may get lucky. You never know what may be available for that person.

I have found a picture of my uncles Antonio and Nicola. I am attaching it.. Antonio was a carabinieri and I assume he died in the Battle of Caporetto between Oct and Nov 1917. I can not find any information on the uniform that Nicola is waring. There is a 91 on the hat. The only US regement from ww1 with a 91 came from the west coast and my uncle lived in NYC. Anyone have any ideas
