Thanks for the recent two items.

The 1920 census is good but they have clearly changed the family name to capaldi or a mis spelling of capaldi. I wonder why.

The Harrison Street location is the same street as Filomena's sister's family the DeSalvis in the 1920 census

Excellent info on Carmela's 2nd husband thanks, also Carmela is yet to be born at 1920 census and she and Manuel take the Meza surname.

I note also that Ernesto born in Mexico of Italian parents ?

Please note I am still awaiting info from my new found cousins which may or may not help.

thanks

Thanks for the further information.

I can confirm that Manuel Meza was Ernesto's son and he was killed in a motoring accident in Mexico. I do not know the details or his residence in Mexico.

The WW1 draft for Ernesto Mesa (s not z) may not be Ernesto Meza's as it looks as if his first record of entering USA is 1919.

The WW2 draft is ok and also his next recorded entry into USA which confirms his only other entry was 1919. He may have been visiting relatives in Mexico and returning to New York where his wife and daughter lived.

Filomena's travels still remain a mystery as there is no record of her entry into USA with a first husband and two older children circa 1913 as claimed by Angeline in the 1930 census.

My thought is, she may have travelled from Italy to Mexico with or without her first husband (name unknown) and her two children Angeline and Leondra.

I may need to search the records in Villa Latina and Picinisco to find any marriage and birth records.

However, how easy is it to search records of entry into Mexico ?

I will do this after the holidays meanwhile "Merry Christmas and Happy New Year" to all on this forum :D

Thanks for all the previous information. :)

How easy is it to get information on entry records into Mexico?
Are there any records on line?
Would I be able to obtain Ernesto Meza'a birth details in Villahermosa and his Italian parents.

Also where would I search for Filomena and Ernesto's death certificates?

To find the birth details or certificate in Villahermosa, Tabasco State, Mexico you should first write to Direccion, Registro Civil, J.N. Rovirosa Esq Nicolas Bravo, 8600, Villahermosa, Tabasco, Mexico..There is a fee but what it might be now is unknown so your better off writing and asking so that any monies you send don't go even further south while they await the balance if the fee has gone up.

The requirments in mexico is name, date of birth, place of birth and mothers maidenname and fathers name. =Peter=

Laura

Thanks for the information excellent work. However it also raises some more questions

This confirms the Munich connection with my Capaldi family. As her parents both worked in Munich and her brother, my grandfather was born in Munich. But continued to travel between San Giuseppe Picinisco and Germany for work.

At the time of departure 1913 her brother was living in Edinburgh Scotland and her sister was in Chicago USA. so why would she go to Mexico?

Where and who was her husband and father of her two children? He is not listed on the ship manifest? Also her marital status is not confirmed is she single, divorced or widowed.

Does she know that she will meet her second husband Ernesto Mezza in Mexico? As he is of Italian parents possibly from the Val di Comino area in Italy.

Keep up the good work excellent!!!

Hi Stuart...
I'm glad I was able to help you...
Don't know which should be your next step now... :?
Usually, here in Italy, on the birth acts recorded in the Comuni there are annotations for the important facts of a person's life...
You can find on a birth act also the annotation for the possible marriage and death of the person.
I read another time all your message and I noticed that Philomena was born in Munich. Do you have her birth act? I don't know if in Germany the civil registrations are similar to ours but... maybe you should try to ask for her birth act in Munich, hoping to find some new clues on it.
This is an obvious question but, do you have also Angelina and Leandro death certificates? Maybe they should have other clues too...

Laura

I have now been in touch with Filomena's grand daughter in USA requesting if she knows any pieces of family history.

Filomena's daughter Carmela is living in USA but she does not have a good memory, therefore her facts may be limited.

The information that I now have is that Filomena travelled with a Maria Morales from Hamburg to Mexico. Does that name appear on the passenger list?

I do not know where Filomena was born Munich or Picinisco or Villa Latina?

However a further story from her daughter Carmela was that Filomena also lived in Austria. She remembers a story of the nephew of Czar Nicholas and her mother. He supposedly painted her when she was in Germany or Austria, not sure which, it is a picture of a girl in a green dress with her arm around a big white dog. I also knew that her hands and feet were used in a painting of a girl at a fountain. Not sure who that artist was. She also told me that the nephew of the Czar wanted to take her to Russia but her mother would not let her go.

But we still do not know the father of her first two children Angelina and Leondra. Angelina's death certificate claims she was born in Florence, Italy. Taking into account Filomena's travels over the world she may also have lived in Florence? I t would have to be circa 1910 as Angeline was 3 in 1913

Any help from contributors would be much appreciated

Stuart
