Ok I have yes to some Rosa's bday was 9/21/1889 the address is hard to read but appears to be 129 Chrystie street as last known residence. I am not sure on 3 rd child I can't find many records I know of the 2 from my husband as Nicola was his grandfather and he called Maria Aunt Mary. (his great Aunt) and cause of death shows Extradural hematomage fractured skull and assaulted.
I called Nypd and have to write under the freedom of information act to find any other details so if you have anything I would appreciate your help sooo much. He could of been assaulted on Elizabeth st?

I was certain that Rosa's date of birth was 9/21. I also was certain that Antonio's cause of death was listed under the antiquated term "extradural hematoma" because I once had a copy of his death certificate, obtained from the Mormon genealogy library in Salt lake City. As I recall, that same death certificate listed the place of death (NOT last known address) as Elizabeth Street, New York, New York, which is near Chrystie Street, Centre Street, Broome Street and Centre Market Street.
You mentioned Nicola's date of birth as 6/12/15 and Maria's as 1918. I can state with certainty that there was a third child (actually, the second), Luigi Pasquale Casamassima, born 8/24/16 in New York, New York, died 9/21/85 (his mother Rosa's birthday) in Brooklyn, New York at Wyckoff Heights Hospital. Furniture maker. Last resided at 59-82 60th Lane, Maspeth, New York 11378 (from c. 1951 or 1952 until his death, previously resided on Linden Street, Ridgewood, New York). Married to Frances Grace Bitritto, born 5/11/21 in New York, New York, died 7/25/85 in Silver Spring, Maryland. Both are buried in Madonna Cemetery, Fort Lee, New Jersey.
You mentioned that Antonio was a tailor. If Nicola is your husband's garndfdather (I assume paternal), you probably know that Nicola was a tailor as well. He was married to Florence, nee?. He lived in Bellerose, Queens, New York at one time. He had two children: Anthony Rocco Casamassima, who I assume is your husband's father, and Roseann Volpicello.
I was confused when you mentioned that Nicola was your husband's grandfather but that Maria was his aunt. I believe that Maria (Capiello, late of Doris Avenue, Franklin Square, New York)was actually his great-aunt.
You are correct that Rosa returned to Italy after her husband's murder in 1919 with THREE children, to return to New York in 1936 or 1937.
You mentioned the town of Bitonto in one of your earlier posts. I belive the entire family was from Bitonto. The town of Casamassima is nearby, but there are few if any Casamassima's in Casamassima but many in Bitonto.
If I am correct, your husband (whom I do not know)is my first cousin once removed.

Yes it is all correct Florence Beece and Nick (nicola) Casamassima are my husbands grandparents. My husband is Anthony's first born son aunt Mary is his great Aunt but he remembers her as Aunt Mary. And there is Roseanne and Terry ( both still living). He has never heard of Luigi. This part is new information to us.

I examined Biff's manifest from the Count of Savoy with interest. I can only assume that the birthdate of 8/28/16 is in error, since Luigi's other documents all list 8/24/16 and he always celebrated it on 8/24. He later joined the CB's (Construction Batallion) of the US Navy in WWII.
I had forgotten that Nicola had another daughter, Terry. She once had the married name "Sobel" and had resided in New Jersey.
Luigi was, in fact, known as Louis, but was born and baptized as Luigi. He was baptized at Most Precious Blood Church on Baxter Street, New York, New York. The back entrance to the church is on Mulberry Street. All these streets are in the same vicinity.

Fisrt cousin once removed is the relationship between an individual and his/her first cousin's child. I am your husband's father's first cousin; therefore, I am your husband's first cousin once removed.
I assumed you knew Mary's two sons (Capiello). I am a child of Louis (Luigi) and your husband's garndfather Nicola (Nick) was, of course, my uncle.

I have been searching into Antonio's death and from fultonhistory.com I searched a lot of ny papers from that time and found nothing. It shows he was at St Vincent's hospital on death certificate and through another site there was a St Vincent's clinic on Elizabeth Street so far everything takes me no closer to why he was killed. But around that timeframe looks like it was common in that area. Thanks to this site though I have so much more than I would of ever known. And family we didn't know was out there.

I got a little more information. Biff since you were such a help I thought I'd share..
On another page it shows the body was identified by an Uncle Gaetano Calvano and and a cousin Mike Paresi there addres are both listed as New York Hester st and Delancy street. I can't find records to tie them as family but Antonio's wife's maiden name was Calvano so the uncle must be her dad's brother.... Anyone whom can help I appreciate it.
