Re: Need a little help
But you are now on the right track. You have an actual place and date of death for your grandfather. Suanj provided an actual image of a marriage record. So you also have the name of his wife and where the marriage occured. NOw you are working from concrete, known data.
Get a notebook or use a spreadsheet to create a timeline. Note date, event, source and age. Use a map and note the county name that each city is located in.
Ohio is a very friendly state for records. They also have alot on-line at ancestry.com Write or e-mail a library in the city your grandfather died in. Ask if they will look up the obit and send it to you. Some charge a few dollars for this service. Or check the local historical/genealogy society where the death occured. Often they will have a look up service and you can get the obit for about $5. If you belong to a local library, your library maybe able to get the obit for you through their inter library loan. The idea is to continue working from the death and marriage record.

i haven't found out anything i haven't already either got from the great people here or what i did before i got to this site....
im at a loss at how hard this is.
i sent the info i needed to get the death certificate of my grandfather, but low and behold it did not have his parents names.
i dont know what else i can do to get his parents names, as my father has not responded to any of my e-mails. for some unknown reason he is being an ass

Re: Need a little help
You are one step closer, you have an actual death certificate. Have you tried to get an obituary? That will list alot of information. Perhaps give you an aunt or uncle to contact if your father does not want to help.
The death certificate should list the cemetery and funeral home. Contact the cemetery for burial records. Who else is buried near him or in the plot owned by him. Or who owned the plot he was buried in.
Don't get discouraged. This journey of tracing your ancestors can be slow, but very rewarding. Try and get every document possible.

Re: Need a little help
I just re-read the posts for your topic. Another suggestion. You have your grandfather's social security number and informaiton. You can send away for his social security application. It will contain the names of his parents and his place of birth. This is a good source of information, because it was completed by him!!
Use this site to find his SS record again. Then click on the box to generate a request to send to SS to get a copy of his SS application. It is $27 but should provide you with alot of needed information.

Remember, as long as there are documents out there that you have not acquired you have not hit a brick wall. Just keep looking. If your grandfather had siblings, I highly recommend researching them also. Each of their birth and death records should have parents names also.

Re: Need a little help
Well, again you have a name and possibly a death date??
Go to ancestry.com (it free at library and FHC) and look for Fred* Noce. There are hits in the death cert index. Also several for newspapers in Zanesville. I don't think the newspaper subscription is available at libraries.
Anyway, you need to send for this death certificate and find the obituary. Same procedure as before. You don't have alot of details and you need to start following the paper trail.
