There are 2 churches, here are both addresses, and obtaining records depends on the priest, but worth a shot.......

Maria SS. del Carmine
Largo Mercato, 2,
86043 Casacalenda (CB)
Italy

S. Maria Maggiore
Via Terra Vecchia, 4,
86043 Casacalenda (CB)
Italy

a form letter for request..........

Would anyone know of a good site to post a message in Argentina?
My great uncle emigrated there around 1900 or so and I'm trying to trace that branch of the Di Genova's family from Casacalenda.

much appreciated, Franco

Franco.....

Well finally have come back to town to stay...been a long haul for the last month or so. Found this today:

Chiara Ramacieri (the wife of Maurizio de Genova) died at the age of 40 (or I should say listed as being 40) on 12 Jan 1855. She was the daughter of Michele Ramicieri, who was dead, and his wife, Mariantonia Mansi, who is also dead.

Chiara was bornon 5 Sept 1911 to Michel di Nicola Ramancieri, age 25, and Mariantonia Mansi, age 21.

The death records I need to find Nicola are not indexed so I did not have time to go through each and everyone today. Found one Nicola, but I don't think he was old enough to be the father of Michele...so I will continue to get back towards 1812 or so.

The center has just received a new digital scanner and printer...meaning that within a couple of weeks, with luck, we can scan copies of all the documents right onto a computer disc. This is what I am waiting for...it will make everything so much easier and less expensive in the long run.

Hang in there, I have not forgotten you...just been a really loooooong month. Hope the other post with the Argentine arrivals is what you need.

Going back to the library on Tuesday...well write again on Tuesday evening.

Susan

PS.. If you have any luck with S. Maria Maggiore...I do believe that is the correct church...let me know. I have some questions about a Pardo Miozza born about 1730 or so....I have been reluctant to ask because I cannot write in Italian and because I know the church is busy. Let me know if you hear anything...I just might make the attempt.......

Hi Susan, great to hear from you again. I hope that things settle down for you now that your back in town.
Do you mean that Chiara was born in 1811, and not 1911? What I would like to do Susan is try to identify all of the Di Genova first before we get into the in-laws. Can we find anything else out on Francesco Di Genova? He would have been born in the 1700's but his death record would probably have his birth as well as maybe his parents names. Also did he have more children other than Maurizio and Giovanni? Can we find all of Maurizio's and Giuseppe's children? I know that my grandfather Marco Vincenzo Di Genova had at least and older brother named Maurizio(he immigrated to Argentina), and a sister (I don't know her name). I would like to find info. on her.

I have not written to any churches yet as I want to get as much info. off of the civil records as I can first. I thank you for your time Susan, your great.

Regards, Franco

In doing the Di Genova surname research I've come accross information on Genova, Genua, Genoa, De Genova. Would anyone know whether these are the same Family or not. Don't want to start straying away from Di Genova unless they are same family.

Thanks, Franco

Hi all,
Would anyone have access to the Casacalenda, prov. Campobasso, Molise civil records? I had been getting help from ESSGEE but she is unavailable right now so was wondering if anyone might have access to them.

Thanks, Franco
