Antonino D'anna's Illegitimate birth

Post by DannaReLoprinzi »

Would someone be willing to translate the red, underlined pieces of his document? I cannot read the transcript. I do know that Antonino was an illegitimate child. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Lisa

These are loose translations. Literal ones often don't make sense:

No 1: “before me, Dr Nicolo’ Gatto, Mayor” (Sindaco = Mayor)

No 2: (baby was) born from Francesca Ninfa Spalla, from an unmarried union, who (ie Salvatore di Anna) has appeared here to make the present declaration

No 3: This document was read to the parties present and was signed by the witness Messina, and by myself, excluding the others present, who declared that they did not know how to write.

You can see at the base of the record that both Cosmo Messina and Nicolo’ Gatto have signed the document. I don’t see a signature there for Giuseppe La Rosa. He was unable to write.
