Birth Location - Lemie?

Post by Elpinoine »

Can anyone help me out deciphering the birth city on line 21 of this ship manifest?

Ancestry translated it as Lemie, but to me it looks like it reads S Leciero (which doesn't exist, but that's just what it looks like to me).

I know that two of the three people on this ship manifest were born in Marcinaise not Lemie, and I'm doubting that their mother was born there either as all her children were born in Marcinaise. I could be wrong, but would like another impression of what it says.

Quality of the image is not good.
It seems to me it could be "San Leucio", a village that is part of the Commune of Caserta.
Can you post a link to the record in Ellis Island, or the name to search for?

The Ellis Island site seems to be a bit clearer, but still not great. Here is the link to the direct page.

If that doesn't work the name is Anna Di Gennaro Perrella, and the date of arrival was September 9, 1913. She is traveling with a daughter Annunziata and a son Nicholas (both Perrella).

I would think that geographically it is much more likely to be San Leucio than Lemie.

Thanks so much for your help. I could tell it wasn't Lemie, but couldn't place what it should be.
