Re: How far back can line go for Italian citizenship?
Quick update and question- I just heard back from the National Archives. They were unable to match my ancestor with any naturalization record in the NA, and I was advised to contact the county clerk of the county in which he lived, which would be Onondaga county, New York in this case, and also USC...

Re: looking for maiden name of my grandmother
Hi: Why don't you request a copy of your grandmother's NY death certificate? It will list both her parents names. Not entirely reliable. Re: Italian Province
The Google translator considers Gregono to be the Latin form of Gregory. https://translate.google.com/#la/en/gregono Also, at the Ellis Island site I found a number of passengers arriving from "S. Gregono M." on a single manifest. Unfortunately, the link to the actual manifest page appears...

Re: Italian Province
It would help if we knew where you got the name from and, if possible, posted the document or a link to it. There is no known place in Italy today with "gregono" in its name. No comune (city/town), no frazione (small hamlet or village belonging to a larger city/town) and no province. A lis...

If nothing else turns up, you can request a copy of your grandmother's Social Security application form.

Re: Can't find ancestor on any census
The address in 1940 was 2224 Terpsichore and, according to the census, they were at the same address 5 years earlier in 1935. Unfortunately, they were not there 10 years earlier in 1930; a different family is at that address on the earlier census. Lines 39, 40 & 41: http://interactive.ancestry.c...
