I have found a marriage record of Donato Laisi to Marianna Ciufoletti in Philadelphia in 1894.

But can find nothing else. I believe at some point they changed their surname to Lieze.

Is Laisi an Italian name? Any thoughts on origin?

Family currently spells name Lieze. Interesting information. Where do Donato's and Mary's names originate in Italy?

Possible that family name was lost when immigrated to United States.

Thank you for the help. I continue to run into the issue of not being able to determine what the italian surname really is --- Lieze, Lize ? poor work by census takers or the inability of people to spell - really want to know where we come from.

Great grandfather came from Italy in 1800's - We have been told from Palermo and also northern Italy. Very frustrating. Any ideas of where the family name Lieze may be from would be very helpful. We have no record of other spellings.
