Donato Laisi
I have found a marriage record of Donato Laisi to Marianna Ciufoletti in Philadelphia in 1894.
But can find nothing else. I believe at some point they changed their surname to Lieze.
Is Laisi an Italian name? Any thoughts on origin?

Re: Donato Laisi
Laisi is very, very rare in today's Italy...found in the far northLieze-Adams wrote:I have found a marriage record of Donato Laisi to Marianna Ciufoletti in Philadelphia in 1894.

Laiso is found throughout Italy, but more common in the area near Naples (Campania) and Bari (Apulia)
The surname Laiso at this site is described as rare and of Greek origin...

Lausi (as suanj pointed out in the other thread) is found in Italy today in the Lazio and Campania regions.
The surnames Liezi/Lieze do not exist in Italy that I am aware...
Hope that helps...

Re: Surname Laizze
Hi really I found the marriage record of Donato and Marianna
topic23201.html?hilit=Lieze#p169065
but it is very hard to say the right surname spelling; maybe in marriage certificate it are more infos... you requested it?
It are several surnames in Italy very similar... themain way is to know almost the birth area.. I believe that he was no sicilian, maybe of same area of Marianna Ciuffoletti( Salerno area)

I found a marriage record:
Pennsylvania, Philadelphia Marriage Indexes, 1885-1951
Groom's Name: Donato Laisi
Bride's Name: Ciufoletti ( full name: Marianna Ciuffoletti)
Marriage License Year: 1894
License Number: 72337
Image Number: 00011
Digital Folder Number: 4141875
as you can see the bride maiden name is Ciuffoletti and not "Schefflera".
