Interpretation of Birth Record for Scipione Africano

Post by LSD »

Hello! I was recently directed to this site, and would appreciate any help in interpreting/reading this birth record for what I believe is my ancestor Scipione Africano (left page). My understanding from his marriage record is that his parents were unknown. I think this is the correct birth record (town and year seem to match), but am unsure. I am unable to read most of the page (or the margin notes).

https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/ark:/12 ... vD?lang=en

It's page 41 (left side). Birth records part 2 for Ruvo di Puglia (1818).

Would appreciate any assistance. Thank you!

I am sorry that a response has taken this long.

Birth act #103
Dated 1 April 1818 in Ruvo -
Agata Rosa di Gennaro, 38, midwife, declared that yesterday was "exposed" (abandoned) in San Angelo a male child who she stated had not signs (notes, identifying items) on his person, and who she presented to the official. The official gave the child the name Scipione, and the surname Africane.
Notation in the left margin indicates baptism on 3 April.
