what is your most distant Italian cousin you have found?

Post by vintagegamer »

Thanks to doing family genealogy research, I'm very happy to be able to say that I discovered a 5TH cousin of mine (as in first cousins, second cousins, etc...), who is Italian and very close to me in age, and lives in the States. They are also English-speaking and well-versed in using a computer, so thankfully we get to talk almost every day.

Without doing this research I never would have found them. I'm also in the process of determining the actual link between myself and relatives in Canelli, Asti, Italy. We have been in touch and it has been great, so I can't wait to see how we are actually all related.

Just thought I'd see who else has these special relationships that they might want to share with the rest of the community here!

This is also a helpful piece to read if you know you're related to someone, but aren't quite sure of how the breakdown works:

I've located third cousins....communication is difficult, as they only speak Italian and my Italian is limited... :?

Also located cousins in France, who fled Italy during the war, and they speak only French.... 8O

Lee, where in the US are you located? I am in MD and speak French..
That is how I have been communicating with family in Canelli! We use a blend of English, Italian, and French.

Even if you are not close to me geographically, perhaps I could help you put an email or letter together for those in France now. Let me know what you think!

I'm in Illinois, not wanting to be a burden to Elba....who has been a tremendous help in communicating with family overseas, I may take you up on your generous offer for the family in France. :D

Now that we're moved in and semi settled here, I really need to pull some primary records out of the boxes and send them to France, as they are also doing genealogy......yea....after five years I finally found one person researching the same lines.... 8O And they were kind enough to send me a picture of my Nonni and her brother, I was ecstatic!! And it finally answered a long standing question as to why my children are so tall...unlike me...just wish those remaining in Talamello were as receptive.... :?

Thanks so much for the offer!!
