Surname : D'Atri & Blasioli

Post by kenogirlmd »

Hi ! My name is Angel D'Atri. I was born and raised in the United States. I started to research my family recently and have became very interested in learning more. I am having some trouble. I am trying to find out some information on a few people and I have not had any luck so far. If anyone could help me with some names that would be great! I have lost so much sleep over all this bc it has been so fascinating to me and I keep wanting to look for more information. If I could get any birthdates, marriage dates, old addresses, just anything it would be greatly appreciated.

My contact info: kenogirlmd@yahoo.com or www.facebook.com/kenogirlmd

Giuseppe D'Atri -Son of Amalia Blasioli (b.1891-d.1961) & Camillo D'Atri (b.1888-d.1950) - noone has known his where abouts for years.

Parents of Camillo D'Atri and maybe any ancestors before them.

I found out on www.geni.com that Domenic's D'Atri's brother was Giuseppe D'Atri. Domenic's son does not recall anyone with that name, odd...so we were wondering if maybe it could have been a child of Domenic's that his mother Amalia had raised. Domenic was born in 1914 and lived around the Abruzzo area and Crecchio. He came to the United states around 1930 and was about the age of 16. It is rumored that he married a girl the day before he left Italy and she was to have been pregnant with his child. We have no information on who she could be or if she has had a child. I will have to find names. He married here in the states to my great grandmother Helen Robinette. She used to always send money over to Italy to a man she claimed to have maybe been a priest and long lost brother of Domenic...Could it be Giuseppe or could she have been sending money to the son he is rumored to have ??? Its very nerve racking to sit and think so much you find yourself stuck in a rut 8O . Any help would be so great!

I am also looking for a flour mill or pasta business owned by the D'Atri family that Domenic delivered for. Around about 1920-1930.

One big question... Mostly all of the family spells their last names like D'Atri . Domenic was a D'Atri as well but when he came back here he signed the paperwork Datri with no apostrophe. His brothers still used it so alot of our family spells it 2 different ways. So how do I get to use the apostrophe like the rest of the family ancestors ? Can I just use it and it be legal or would I have to go through a process to prove he originally spelled it D'Atri before coming back into the states?

You can call yourself and write it on any legal document ANY NAME you wish First and Last . The only proviso is that you do it for legal purposes and not for anything illegal (like forging someone's signature on a check).

At a certain point you can also change your name by merely complying with the law of the county in whichyou reside with an affidavit you can obtain from one of those law books the county law office maintains.

You can use both spellings as you wish but without a formal name change your legal name is the name on your birth certificate. =Peter=

I've actually started this chat and am unable to retrieve the information to get back into it. I was wondering if there was a way to find out where Camillo and Dominick D'Atri lived in Italy. I wanted to see if possibly the home was still there or if there were any photos I could find of the home. I know it would have been Dominicks childhood home as he came to the states at a young age. I have never been able to see any photos of where my family had lived or worked there. I plan to make a trip one day and would love to find out so that I could visit these areas and learn more.
