In Search of some helpful information

Post by Rizzon »

Hello and Thank you for allowing me to be apart of this forum I am so happy I was able to find it. Our Grandmother was born and raised in Cismon Del Grappa and moved to the States. She has recently passed of cancer and is now with her Lord and her One True Love, who gave her 14 wonderful children and 5 generations of grandchildren as well. To make a long story short. We ( which i mean some) of her grandchildren are planning on having her Name Tattooed on our body's. As she is our Guardian Angel. Now a few of us have gotten some not so "nice" emails about what we plan to do. My main question here is would Italian Catholics feel this as an embarrasssment to their name/family?

Now, I don't mean to be negative, but perhaps you should think of what your grandmother would think of the tattoo. If you think she would be fine with it, why not? Anyway, that's just my opinion. It's your decision.
My Italian surnames:

Caserta: Maietta, Rossano, Tessitore, Negro, Peluso, Musone

Campobasso: D'Andrea, Barile

Catanzaro: Fiorelli/Fiorillo, Romito

I think you should do whatever makes you all happy regardless of what other people think. Tattoos are a personal choice, as are body piercing, etc and you should be able to honor your grandmother in whatever way you choose.

But as my husband always says when I make a major personal choice decision - think it through, forget about it for a while and then think about it again. If it's still important to you in a few months then do it. Never do anything on a whim.

Thank you all for the sound advice. i already have 30 tattoo's but wanted this one to be special because my g'ma was a very special lady. I just wish I had the oppurtunity to visit Italy with them this past summer before she passed. Italy from the pictures i seen is so gorgeous and seems so peaceful. Perhaps one day..
