to translate a note about baptism from 1848

Post by CowryShells »

Hello!

These lines are from the margin of a birth record. They are typed in as part of the form. The only handwritten part I put in brackets. The previous line said that the priest baptized the baby boy. Then these two lines follow it. I need help in understanding them. It's something about a note the town officials prepared to keep in the register on page 371 and also something received from the priest that was inscribed in two registers and signed. It would be great to get a translation or explanation. Thank you very much!

Here's another one from 1856:

Did the priest perform the baptism and then give a report to the civil authorities, who then entered it into the birth record?

In vista di tal...

It means "in view of such notation, and after having transcribed it, we disposed it to be conserved in the volume of documents on page 371."

Basically when a birth record has the baptism information in the right column, it demonstrates the communication that took place between the town official and the parish priest. The town official sent the priest a copy of the birth record, on which he in turn added the baptism information, and then sent back to the town official to be recorded in two registers. Then the town official acknowledged to the parish that he had received the baptism information from him. So the answer to your question at the end of your last entry is yes.
