Ellis Island Ferry - Then What?

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Ellis Island Ferry - Then What?

Post by cefola »

After processing at Ellis Island, what would be the next steps
that a new arrival would take? In other words, where
would the ferry dock after departing Ellis Island?
Where would passengers go after docking, etc?
Thanks to all.

When the passengers arrived at Ellis Island they went to the luggage and registry rooms. There were many steps as to decide who could stay and who should go home. They did medical testing, intelligence testing, money exchange, legal issues, deportations. The place you can catch the ferry now is at an old railroad station. I believe it was there the passengers took the railroad to their planned location. I was just there a month ago
