Catarello Family

Post by scatarello »

I am new to putting together our family tree so bare with me please! I am the granddaughter to Guiseppe (joseph) Catarello who lived in Joliet, Illinois. The story we have always been told was that my grandfather and his siblings with thier mother when my grandfather was young in Sicily. It was never known where he went. I have found Catarellos in Turin but I dont speak italian so communication has been limited as to how we are related. Would love to be part of putting all the pieces together in the Catarello history. I had no idea that Patrell was actually Catarello!

Hi and welcome to the forum! :-)

I am confused by your third sentence.
Did you mean that your grandfather and his siblings lived in Sicily?
And you don't know where WHO went?

Just need a clarification, and how you would like us to help you specifically?

If you would like us to trace records like ship manifests, etc., it would help a lot to know Giuseppe's approximate year of birth, mother's name, etc.

Does this record belong to your family?
(don't worry about spelling and dates that are a bit off on census records))
Thank you, Valarie

Hi Valarie :-) Thanks for the heads-up! - You mean a translation of some sort?

Possible manifest for Giuseppe, 1909, age 19, traveling from Mussomeli, leaving mother Grazia, traveling to Chicago, ILL.
Traveling on next line line is brother Salvatore, 26, leaving wife Maria Terito(sp?)

wow! you guys are great! That is my grandfather, joseph, and his wife and children who lived on chase ave in joliet, although the record is before my father, also joseph, and his twin sister were born. to clearify my first post, my grandfather's father left his family while my grandfather was young and still in sicily. No one in the family ever knew where he went but supposedly he sent my great grandmother a letter asking her to join him but she refused. So my tree ends there and I would love to know more.

Glad to help :-)

Hey Valarie...nice observation on the census :-D

So I'm guessing we don't know the first name of grandfather Giuseppe's father who left Sicily before grandfather Giuseppe (and his twin sister) were born, right?

Since Giuseppe's older brother's name is Salvatore...maybe I'll start there.
:?
