Greetings,
I don't know where to go for help really so thought I'd start here.
I am researching an artist called Giovanni Barbaro. He lived in England for some of his life. He married Amy (maiden name unknown) who was from Newcastle on Tyne, around 1901. They appear in the 1901 UK census living in Southampton and in the 19111 census living in Kensington, London. He is described as an Italian subject, born in Amalfi. He is also described as a retired courier. Both he and Amy were water colour artists and he became quite popular. He also had the pseudonym of Arthur Dudley.
I would like to discover a record of his birth and any family details in Amalfi. How would I go about this?
He and Amy did not apparently marry in the UK - perhaps in Italy? How would I check?
Glad of any pointers but in the meantime (I just joined) I will search this comprehensive site for help and information.
Thanks
Johnners

Hi Johnners, I too am researching Giovanni Barbaro aka Arthur Dudley and this is how I came across your post. I'm replying in the hope that you are still checking this site and that you may have found more info which you may wish to share with me. I'm interested to see that you have his DOB and DOD which I have not seen before.
I'll be very pleased to hear anything from you.
Kind regards,
Roger.

Re: Giovanni Barbaro ?1864 - 1915
Further to my previous enquiry, I am still trying to find any biographical info on this artist.
I'm hoping that reactivating this inquiry may bring some response from anyone with any information.
The only info to date is that posted in the 20 Jul 2010 message. I have tried to contact Johnners but with no success.
Any information will be very welcome.
Thanks,
Roger.
