I am looking for the military records for an ancestor, Emile Castain. Originally from St-Nicolas, he was stationed at Pallanza (en garnison a Pallanza) in 1917. Can someone point me to where military archives might be found?
Thanks.

Re: How to find military records from 1917
You need to know full name, date of birth and place of birth ikn order to obtain military records from the Military archives in the provincial capital of his place of origin. 75 years after his service this information becomes public. =Peter=

Dear Cyndy, the military record is kept at state archive or military district of the province where your ancestor was resident.
There are many towns callse San Nicola in Italy.
What province are you talking about?

If that St. Nicholas you are talking about is in the area of Aosta, you can see if it is kept at Aosta or Torino state archive

Emile Castain was from St-Nicolas in Vallee d'Aoste. Would you have any contact info for the State Archives for that area?
Re: How to find military records from 1917
Since Aosta has not a state archive, I suggest you to contact Torino state archive
