Giammona Family

Post by ddondero »

My grandfather, Joseph Giammona, was born in Palermo, Sicily. He died when my mother was 7 years old (1929) and was an only child. We would like to find out if there are any living Giammona relatives in the USA or Sicily. Can anybody help?

Do you have any dates on him? (roughly) Also, when did he come here? and to where?

The Birth records Index for Palermo from 1876-1885 are online, but there was no record for a Giuseppe Giammona in that period. But of course he could have been a native of a town nearby.

Thanks
Jim

Jim, thank you for your fast reply. I don't know when he came here or how he was when he came here. I have an 86 year old Uncle who may be able to help with some info. He may have come from a town named Misilmeri (outside of Palermo region). At least that is where my grandmother was from and I believe it was an arranged marriage.
