Birth Certificate

I am looking for a birth certificate of a Rosa Di Scala born November 29, 1921, in Catania Italy or so I believe. Also her Mother a Maria Mangano Born on July 18, 1891. We believe Catania as well not absolutely sure

We were told by our Mother's that our grandmother Maria Mangano was adopted out to the Mangano's, Father, Giovanni Francesco Mangano and Mother, Maria Lojoudras, this information was on microfish through the SS office. not even sure the last name of her mother is correct as we cannot find a name that matches in any search.

We were also told our grandmother Maria Mangano was a decsendent of Royality. Seeking to find this information if it is at all possible to locate.

Writing to the comune (town) for a birth record is no problem.
Since Catania is also a province, do you know if she was born in the comune of Catania or the province.

We are aware of the ellis island, the dates they arrived and that my grandmother did go back to Italy, with 2 small sons,(Giovanni, and Dante) pregnant with Rosa, Rosa was born in Italy, but we cannot make out the names of her Mother and Father as you have done for us! We have her Father listed as Giovanni Francesco Mangano and mother as Maria, not Francesca. and now you have found her name for us Lo Giudice! We are also curious as to more family members, Concetta Mangano, Was her cousin, she married, and on the Ellis Island website it lists her Married name yet we cannot make it out..it looks like Pinni or Panni

We are a bit confused with her step mother, was she Maria's mother after her biologial mother died or were they both her step parents, as she was adopted by them? that is an unanswered question, for our research in our family.
Also as we grew up our Mothers (her daughters) had always told us she was adopted, and that she was born of a Royal family, My Uncle Dante Di Scala, was always known as Count. Our mothers told us our Grandmother was born from a Duchess or was herself a Duchess.
I don't expect to have all these questions answered here, I am very grateful you 2 were able to help us with names and places and the places we need to write to to get Birth Certificates! it is wonderful!
I will be back as I have so much excitment for all this information!

What is also confusing for us is that our grandmother writes Catania as her birthplace for social security, and on the manifest she writes Augusta? I thnk you both so much! this is very needed information!

At least these documents are helpful to determine Maria Mangano's place of birth... looks like it was Augusta (DOB 21 july 1891)... and considering that Maria stated on her 1922 arrival manifest that her last residence in Italy was Augusta, it's strongly possible that her daughter Rosina was born there too (on 31 november 1921)...

My Grandmother Maria Mangano, date of birth is July 18, 1891 My grandfather Pasquale Di Scala, date of birth is March 24, 1887. They were Married on July 20, 1912. That information we know to be true and correct.
I did send away for the Petition and Naturalization Papers for both Maria and Pasquale I have recieved them.

I see that Ancestry.com is a very good website, this may give me a reason to join.
