LaMark/LaMarca
LaMark/LaMarca
My grandfathers name was Richard 'Fred' LaMark ('Fred' was what his side of the family called him. I know he changed his first name because he was given a very Italian first name and he wanted to 'fit in' more. I do not know his first name though.)
He was 89 and passed away in 2009, making him born in 1920. I do not know when his family came over exactly, but believe my father told me he had a few siblings born in Italy and he was born here?
I am looking to find more relatives and more about my family. There was a rumor around the family that our last name was changed from LaMarca to LaMark, though the reason is unknown (maybe to 'Americanize' it?)
He had a brother, John, and sisters Dolores and Rose (and I think a few more but I never knew them.)
My grandfather worked with the Port Authority of Pittsburgh PA for mostly all of his life. He drove a limo after retirement.
He says that his family came from Sicily.
I would like to know more about my great grand parents - I do not know their names at all. And I would like to try to grasp some idea of why they changed their last name, my family crest, and trace my family tree back even farther. If anyone can guide me to places where I can do that, or help me on here, that would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance! (:

Re: LaMark/LaMarca
I am researching the Lamark/Lamarca family. Very nice to find another person researching this family also. My husband's grandmother was Teresa Lamark Lovetro.

We're guessing that you (thru your husband) and the original poster are related.
You have great family pages on ancestry, terrific research and wonderful pictures! Thank you for sharing them.

Thank you for your kind words. I believe we are related also. I recently added those pictures--I love them too. They were a gift to me and it is nice to share them with others who are interested. Thanks again, Patty
Re: LaMark/LaMarca
Hi Kateee... My father, Thomas LaMark is your grandfather's youngest brother. I am also searching for more of our ancestry back into Italy and have come to a road block. I remember Uncle Freddy fondly and was so saddened by his passing. Email me if you'd like.
