Cuccia family Piana dei greci

Post by tshrmn »

I am looking for any information on Paolo Cuccia Birth 1894 / his wife Rose Cuccia (Cosenza). After migrating to US thourgh New Orleans they had three children; Epifanio, Pauline, and Mary.
I would be the great-great granddaughter. Thank you!

Hi and welcome to the forum,

I think this may be your Paolo's manifest. If so he came with his father Epifano to Ny first in transit to NO.

Since the WWI card was completed around 1917, the immigration date in the census is incorrect
It may have been a later trip.

Hi mj! :-) Nice manifest...

Hi mj :-)

1920 Census has Rose born in Italy, but unknown immigration year...
HOWEVER, they are living with what appears to be her parents, Sam and Mary Cosenza, and Sam's immigration year is listed as 1888.
Mary listed as born in Italy, but no immigration year listed.

I'm not having any success finding the manifest for her family, though. :-(

Cusenza is an actual Italian name. What do you think?

Cosenza? Cusenza?

I'm beginning to think the original name was Cusenza...it struck me when I found two different census records with that spellling...

I'm voting for Cusenza!!! :-)

I can't believe how awesome you all are. I will look at these carefully. I have heard from family that Rosa and Paul came together, she being pregnant with (Epifanio my granfather) he was then born in New Orleans 1917. Couldhe have come earlier and returned to come back with Rosa. Did things like that occur?

I can't tell you all how helpful you have been!

Thanks so much! This is such a wealth of info. i did find the census 1920 and 1930, but I am trying to find the maifest. He supposedly came with Rose to New Orleans while she was pregnant with my grandfather (Epifanio b. 12/3/1917). Thanks for all your help, this is GREAT!

The first manifest you found was it! The address of their relatives they were coming to see matches Rose's address in New Orleans. SO the old story they came together is incorrect! (They were cousins). OK so this has had me baffled for the longest time. You were a great help in solving this mystery! Do you have any ideas about how to find birth records in Sicily?? Thanks again!
