Re: Trabia Birth record help
Hi
The right side of the document is cut off so I can't read the month.
On these civil documents, the names at the bottom are generally witnesse. No godparent names appear in the civil records that I am aware of.
Ignazio Adelfio was born on the 5th of ____ 1888, at 6 AM
He was presented at the town hall at noon by his father Salvatore, 38 (occupation cut off)
Child was born to his wife, Giuseppa Bondi, no profession, living with him.
witness information is incomplete because right side is not in view, but it looks like Luigi Squarino, 43, and Xxx Diego.

Re: Trabia Birth record help
The right side of the document is cut off which has presented a problem.
The year is 1888, the 5th of the month of ?
Informant and father of the infant: Salvatore Adelfio, age 38, living in Trabbia, his occupation is cut off
wife Giuseppe Bondi, without a profession, living with him
masculine infant was given the name of Ignazio
I can't make out the street name-the address of the house in which the infant was born
The witnesses at the bottom were witnesses to the presentation of the infant at the town hall and to the creation of this birth act. They were not godparents. This is a state civil record and not a church baptism record, so no godparents names are given.
Witnesses on state civil birth records are normally not relatives. If you look at records preceding and following this record on the microfilm, you may find the same witnesses appearing over and over.

Re: Trabia Birth record help
The picture is cut off on the right, therefore I cannot read the month...
Date of birth (and of the act) is 6 XXXXXXX 1888. Ignazio Adelfio.
Father Salvatore aged 38
Mother Giuseppina Biondi
The names of the witnesses to the act are cut off: from the signatures I would say Renzo Squarina and Diego Dorma
(very often the witnesses are employees of the registar office)
Peg you were 30 seconds faster!

Re: Trabia Birth record help
That's true. He loses a point, but gains one. It all works out in the end.
