Parish records Alano di Piave (Belluno)

Post by fredostrom »

Hi, I am a newcomer to this site. I am searching for family records of Angelo Benato, born November 21, 1902. His father was named Giovanni and his mother was named Angelina. Angelo emigrated to the US after WWI.

Thanks

There is one parish listed for the town in the current Italian yellow pages at www.paginegialle.it

Parrocchia S. Antonio Ab.
Piazza Xxx Ottobre
32031 Alano Di Piave (BL)
Italy

To help you write to the parish in Italian, you can refer to the following website:

http://www.angelfire.com/ok3/pearlsofwi ... tters.html

It is customary to send a donation to the parish, but you may want to first inquire if your ancestors' records are in the parish books

Yes, that is the correct person. I have attempted to make contact through the village mayor and three separate Benato families that live in the general area. I have never received a response. My understanding is that the local parish is not serviced so I sent a letter to St. Anthony Abbot, Via Brigata Re 19, Alano Di Piave, 32031 IT. I never received a response. A letter addressed to the actual parish certainly won't hurt.

Thanks

If that fails, you may want to try to get civil records rather than church records. Here are two email addresses for the town's anagrafe or registry office. I personally am partial to civil records and have found they normally have much more information than church records. Church records are good for earlier periods when civil records are not available.

anagrafe.alano@feltrino.bl.it (no spaces in either email address)

anagrafe2.alano@feltrino.bl.it

Here's another website to help with letters or emails in Italian:

Mailing address:

Ufficio Anagrafe e Stato civile
Piazza Martiri, 12
32031 - Alano di Piave (BL)
Italy

from the town's official website:

http://www.feltrino.bl.it/opencms/comun ... noDiPiave/

If you send a letter to the town, enclose a self-addressed but not stamped envelope and don't send any money. If they require a fee, they will let you know.
