What does Detto mean?

What does Detto mean?

My GGGF name was Giuseppe Bagatin on records Giuseppe's name was written as follows; " Bagatin detto Giust Giuseppe "
What does it mean? Can anyone help?

I've always thought it meant 'aforementioned' or 'above mentioned' but can't swear to it.

It depends on the context; in princessbubbles_1's query it means "known as"

I also have seen it Annual indexes, where it means the same month. For example it would a record with birth date 15 octtobre and then next might be 16 Detto.

"Giust" is a word that (in italian) doesn't exist. I think it could be Giusti or Giusto.
