Hi,

Microfilm records for this town are available from your local Family History Center of the LDS Church. Microfilm is about $3.50 a roll and you can follow the birth, marriage and death records of your family.

For the surname Meloi, Joseph. he imigrated to US around 1880. He had a daughter named francis who was born in Italy and did come to US. Not sure if she married in the US or Italy her married name was fillipo sometimes called difillipo. her husbands first name was Anthony. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I did find a 1920 census - would this family be yours?..

If so, Francesca would have been born in the USA...

Name: Joseph Meloi
Age: 45 years
Estimated birth year: 1874
Birthplace; Italy
Race: White
Home in 1920: Newark, Essex, New Jersey
Marital status: Marie - Born in N.J. about 1880
US Born Children Peter, Rose, Anna, Charles, Josephine, Jerry, Marie
Year of immigration: 1880
Roll: T625_1035 Page: 15B ED:352 Image:0096

Just so I don't get confused... :?
My grandmother was from the town Artena. Massimei was her maiden name.
What was her year of birth, and her given name... I guess no connection to Joseph Meloi?
Also looking for the surname Meloi, this was my great great grandmothers maiden name.
What was her given name, and year of birth...

On the census mfjp found the family was living in NJ and Marie was born there. Have you tried getting birth certificates for the children and see if by chance the father's birth place lists a city along with Italy. Or the parents marriage license may have it listed.

You can look for the birth cert yourself if you go to the State Archives in Trenton. They are available up to 1920 and alphabetical by year.

I got lucky looking for a birth place in Italy. Could find any record for my grandmother, but her sisters marriage record in Trenton listed the place of birth by city, province and Italy.

Of course, if you find an immigration record it will be a more direct route, but the above my be helpful.
